Nord Lead 2 Rack unit Giving me lots of problems Subject description: Midi and program issues |
 |
|
Hi
I recently purchased a Clavia Nord Lead 2 Rack unit second-hand, I love the sounds the unit can produce, but it is giving me real headaches in a couple of departments -
1. There are four 'program slots' A, B, C and D each with 99 voices
or 'programs as they're known. Problem is, only Slot A and B contain
the 99 sets of sounds. Slot C and D contain nothing. I can't trigger any
sounds from them using the Trigger Button on the rack, or a
midi keyboard.
2. This second problem has occured about half an hour ago, I can
only trigger sounds using a midi keyboard for Slot A. Slot B contains
voices, but even when I switch to slot B, the midi Keyboard keeps
Playing slot A sounds. I can trigger Slot B's sounds using the trigger
button on the rack, but not a midi keyboard.
Please could anyone offer me some much needed advice, i'm getting quite disheartened by these problems, I only received the rack a couple of days ago! Thankyou. |

Thanks for the speedy response! I had a look at some of the sticky
threads, and managed to resolve my Midi issue, but i'm still perplexed
about the missing sounds on Slot C and D (198 missing in all). I have a theory that the previous owner may
have deleted them, but I am still getting to grips with the rack, and haven't had much time to look at the storing and editing facilities.
I guess i'll have to wait for Wout to come back from his holiday, although I may contact Nord directly as well in the meantime.
Thanks again for the response. |

To everyone from electro-music.com I met during my holidays: I returned safe and sound
About the missing sounds...
The memory of the NordLead is only 40 change able locations and 59 not change able locations concerning Programs. Only 100 Performances, non change able, are available. This memory is used by all four Slots!!!
However, using a PCMCIA card provides 3 x 99 change able locations and 100 Performance locations pro card...
The four Slots (four synthesizers) are using these locations, so number 53 will be the same Program in Slot A and Slot C if 53 is chosen in both!!!
Missing the C and D Slot has to do with the routing of the Output. See Output mode.
First of all, if you haven't a Manual, it's download able at http://electro-music.com/forum/post-210056.html#210056
To direct Slot C and D to Output 1 and 2 press [Shift + 2x OutMode] and scroll using the up and down arrows to [-.cd]. Slot C and D will be added to Slot A and B on two channels.
