Want your DIY music on the Electro Music Streaming Radio?? Subject description: Be part of the "Soldering Musician Show" and submit your music for braodcast |
 |
|
"The Soldering Musician with State Machine", a new Bi-Weekly Radio Show (Schedule is in the works but tentatively for Tuesdays from 7 to 9 PM EST US), 23:00 to 1:00 GMT .. to be broadcast LIVE on electro-music streaming radio from my project studio here in LI, New York.
The Show Theme:
Do you build circuits that synthesize sound in hardware/code? Do you bend or modify existing circuits, or play chip music on your Gameboy – Commodore 64/128 – Atari 2600 or a neat breadboard with that vintage analog or digital chip? Do you design or build your own electronic instruments or controllers?
Well, if you answer yes to any of these questions, please do record your music and submit it to the show producer (me), I will play it .......... anything goes! The show is dedicated to the “Soldering Musician” and showcases the music of our modern day ‘do it yourself’ or DIY electronic music makers. Let your hard work be heard.
The Call for Show Material:
If you have music that you want me to play to the world and you think it qualifies according to the theme of this show, please send me your MP3, WMA or FLAC music files to the following e-mail address or drop a tune or two in my electro-music private mail box:
bill@smsaudioelectronics.com
Want to send me your CD instead ? (Better if you have lots of material) Then please send me a private mail and I will send you my shipping address where to send your disk.
Have a website where I can download your music? Send me the link, I will go and get it.
For announcement purposes, please include a description of your music, your name (also spelled phonetically if it’s a tough one to pronounce) the name of the song(s), what you used to create it and where you’re from. I want to announce it. Any other interesting points I should know about? Send that along as well. I want to credit YOU.
So please participate with me and let’s have some fun with this. The show
can’t go on without you. Oh, yes, by the way, I will throw in a tune of mine here and there to …..
Thanks all!

The Myspace tunes are cool !!!! Thanks
Yes, please send the files with a bit of a description of what gear you using. Nothing laborious of course. Just brief. If you have the time to place your (from your HD) music on CD-R and send that off to me, that would be great and i will have a listen. This is the stuff we are promoting here. Let me know if you want to do that and I will PM you my address.
Thanks for your kind permission and response ...
BTW: Any music you (or anyone) send me, stays with me and will ONLY be used on the show for obvious reason .....

Thats perfectly fine Crash ... any submissions can be a mix of DIY and commercial software and hardware. I rarely produce music made exclusively with DIY gear. So, submit away .... I will need lots of material to cover 4 hours each month.
Your contributions are much appreciated.
Any descriptions of your gear and methods are welcome as this will make the show more interesting.
PS: Cute Cats BTW
Thanks !

Well, that leaves me out. Whatever happened to just electronic music?

Totally not planned that way Gary and certainly not to discriminate I think the way this is going is that we are starting off slow with a minimal amount of shows to sort of "iron out" the wrinkles (6 shows are planned for now I believe). As Jan said, there will be more shows that will feature more music of all types of electronics sub-genres.
The show I planned was a sort of theme show that featured some aspect of DIY or home brew piece of gear and since I moderate some of the DIY groups, it was appropriate that I exploit the guys I usually pal around with on the forum. For example, if you created a cool synthesizer in say, Reactor or MAX, that would be part of the show to.
Anyhow, Howard made a call for programmers, and I responded with my idea and it was accepted.
Thanks

I see. Could creating a synth in Reason qualify (not that I have; just curious)?

Aren't the synths in reason all preprogrammed? Perhaps you mean reaktor. All these R synths - it's easy to get confused... |

Gary,
I thought about things for a bit last evening and this is what I want to do. The show, because of my theme, will feature IN PART DIY creations but will also include ALL types of electronic music -- electro acoustic, drum and bass, jungle, space, minimal, glitch -- done with trackers, computers, hardware synthesizers --- WHAT EVER ---
With that, please send me your submissions, and you will surely be heard on the show.
I enjoy this forum because it makes me happy and I want others to be happy as well.
With that, I will modify the show description to include ALL electronic music types as well as special features such as home brew instruments and LIVE performances in the near future.
So, all computer VSTi's welcome (I just got Spectrasonics Omisphere !!! ) as well as that tricked out MAX OR Reaktor patch !!

Hey Bill,
I was going to say I'd be unable to add anything as I haven't actually done much recording of my DIY gear, but now you've shifted the goalosts a bit, feel free to lift any of the audio tracks I've submitted. PM me if you want a description for any of them in particular. _________________ What makes a space ours, is what we put there, and what we do there. |

OK Great Andy !! Your contributions are greatly appreciated. And, yes, the original idea was a tad too restricting and I think teh dialog between Gary and I, we reached a nice ocmpromise. The show can still have DIY and any other musical genre as well.

I dunno, I pretty much liked the original idear. I suppose that's a personal preference. I don't mean to be exclusive - I love pretty much all electronic music, but I'm intensely interested in what people are accomplishing out of the mainstream of commercially available hardware/software.

I'll send you a few tracks from recent Skrog Productions releases, Newer than the myspace stuff below.
Apart from my 2 "hard rock" projects ( ) , all my other projects use my diy instruments more now than ever , Though i don't know how my new diy drum synth triggers would cope on a grindcore track doing blastbeats |

Oh, don't you worry Scott, plenty of bloops and bleeps from those hand made circuits will be on the show to !! I broadened the shows scope also because I was not sure I could collect enough music to cover about 4 hours each month. I may be underestimating things a bit right now. Will see how it goes.
Some shows might be all DIY, some might be less, it all depends what everyone sends me. You can bet that guy Scott Stites will be on the show ...
