I am thinking of buying a Nord Lead 2X and would like some owners' opinions.

1) It seems the 2X has no effects, not even a chorus generator! How does this synth sound without a chorus with unison off?
2) Is the lack of virtual patching very limiting?

I have seen demos on Youtube which sound awesome, but I've never actually heard a 2X live. How much does the Modular G2 Demo resemble the 2X in sound?

Thanks
- Chris

Well, all the answers in this forum are coloured, of course Smile

Here you go... Compared to what? The most simple answer would be "As a NordLead2X without a chorus with Unison off"! Two answers are better. First try to locate a NordLead2X nearby, which could be hundreds of miles when Canada is 'nearby', couldn't it be so? The most nearby synth shop? And secondly... Beware of the fact this synthesizer with some minor updates is still in production after more then 15 years!

Simple no! There are some limitations compared to an analogue synthesizer, but these are always there when a memory is involved, like the immediate reacting knobs... To produce usefull musical sounds the Lead (Prophet like synth) offers a great pre-patch which delivers a sound very easy! That's why it's still popular, I think.

The G2 Demo depends on the D/A converters of the computer, which may have different results... The G2 is a modular synth, where the Lead2X is pre-patched. Furthermore the G2 line is completely sold out where the Lead2X is still in production. Newly build ones still leaves the factory!

(Sorry, I'm in a somewhat sarcastic mood, which is rather rare, BTW)
