Subject description: I'd like to change how I see notes.

Greetings.

New to Cubase, got legal version of Cubase 5 Edu. Thanks for your help.

As of yet I have no MIDI controller, so I've been drawing in notes with the pencil. Here's my problem.

I used to used ACID to make remixes and experiment. What I liked in ACID was that when I drew something with the pencil it showed up as a wav form. Like a sample preview. It was very easy for me to see when sounds were coming in and out, across a number of measures.

I have yet to discover this view in CB. I will draw the notes in for a kick in Key Editor. When I close Key Editor, the notes show up as say 1pt. lines or dashes next to the corresponding instrument.

I've tried every logical button, zooming in and out, reading through the manual and surfing the tutorials to no avail. I've seen the view I'm describing in older versions of CB, and I feel like I'm missing a really elementary step. Is it because of my Edu version? Is it because it's not a recorded MIDI file?

I hope this makes sense to someone. It's like I just need to change the view from line to wav form or something.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks so much,

Joel

Thanks.

I put one there as well, just trying to speed up the process.

The Cubase sub-forum here is a bit dead!

I think what you are after is not possible in cubase though, it doesn't work this way with midi.

If you have audio clips you can have a display like you are after.

Thanks Andy!

Sadly you are correct. I'll just have to adjust. Thank you.

Best Regards,

JS
