I've been having a lot of fun with my WSG but I've primarily been using it with headphones.

I have used it with a small portable amp (one of those battery operated Fender Mini Twin Amps) but I'm not happy with the sound. When using my amp the sound seems really distortated... maybe even muddy.

But when I plug my headphones directly into the WSG I get a much cleaner sound. The volume is realatively low but the sound quality is much better.

So I was wondering what type of amps people would suggest I use with the WSG? It should be small since I live in an apartment. I imagine the Fender wasn't a very good choice since it was designed for guitar players.

Or perhaps I should build a small amp. Are there any good designs or kits available on the internet?

thanks,
Chris

My WSG sounds great through an old Peavey KB15 keyboard amp I picked up second hand really cheap. And modest though it is, it is more than loud enough to disturb the neighbors. Of course the more amp you can get the more impressive it will sound Smile You won't be sorry if you get an amp with reverb too.

Guitar amps are designed to add distortion. I build bench-top amps around the LM386 chip, like this:

or a cheap stereo amp from th thriftstore....

Personally I like the roland cube cm-30. It's a small keyboard amp with multiple inputs and on board mixer so you can hook up different noise toys all at once. It also makes a great workbench amp due to it's small foot print. I pick one up used for about 50USD.
