Subject description: seeking concise description of the pre-wired mod routes
Reply with quote  Mark this post and the followings unread

Hello, I am a new a6 owner. I am happy and sad at the same time.

The manual has a list of all the software mod routes. It also has a chapter on custom modulations.

Has someone compiled a list of the pre-wired, standard mod routes?

The manual reminds us not to double up when unnecessary. Then it does not proceed to tell us what we might be doubling!

I may be silly and just missing something. I would appreciate any help.

Peace

Well, you don't need to say assign Envelope 2 to the filters, it's already there.

Keep in my mind that hard-mods happen in 2 ms whereas the same soft-mod happen in something like 10 ms after the initial trigger. You can get creative and assign both to some destination, remembering that the second will arrive a little.. late. Very Happy

Thanks for the kind reply. Perhaps I should be more specific.

It is clear to me that the envelopes are hard-wired in a certain way. But other hard wirings are not as clear.

For example, the LFOs are a continuing mystery to me. I am disappointed that they are not more easily editable right from the board. Are LFOs 1,2 and 3 pre-wired to anything in particular? Is the mod wheel hardwired to LFO 1, or all three? What is the ribbon controller's default mod route?

There are times that I will be playing around in order to gain more familiarity with this beauty and I will eventually not understand how the heck it is making certain sounds. I'll turn everything off, check mod routings, and still find some things a mystery. Am I alone in this?

I am sure that these questions betray what an amateur I am, but, well, there it is. Looking forward to any tips or advice.

Thanks.

out of my head ( so probably miss a lot)

hardrouted , all the envelops to resp osc ( eg1) , eg2 (vcf) env3 (vca )

softrouted : by example LFO1 ! , via modwheel ( mostly to buttons mod1 , 2 , and/or eventually 3), to oscillators ( three gray push-buttons on the left of the big oscillatorknob ) and the filters( idem ) .
this can be changed. in my default patch i always take lfo2 as default-source. it's more flexible than default-lfo1 .

i think to get things handled the first part is to make yourself a default-patch.
take the a6 default-patch or another simple /basic sound and try out all the mods ( 3 on each osc/filter, and some on above the envelops )simply press them and look on the screen what mod it is and , then SWITCH THEM OFF., idem for velocity, etc, if you like controlling that yourself.
turn the filters open, or half way whatever you like. resonance out , i'd say.
voila , save the patch and rename it "my default patch one", or "sunny's" if you'd like to.

then ,i'd suggest, start reading the manual (twice) and the "tips and tricks"manual. ( found on this side ( first topic , above))

*to find out "an even deeper layer of modulations" ( modulating the modulatoreffectamount b.e. the so called ) ,the modroutes you'll have to go through the different screen menu's ( see manual)
often, pressing the gray ribbonbutton gets me there fast.

Sunny -- Thanks for the very helpful reply.

I think one of your suggestions is spot on: I need to reread the manual again. I have looked over tips and tricks, but I will read it again after I have read the manual again.

I like your idea of a default patch. I've seen that talked about around the forum, so I will try to go for my own. Still, from what you are saying, it sounds like there is no real list already made out there. It sounds like I've got to find all the pre-wires by searching through each and every menu. Killer, but it is worth it for getting to know this beautiful machine.

One question, you say "take the a6 default patch," is there a default-style preset that I am just not aware of? I would love to have that pointed out. I still welcome any other suggestions, or shared default patches, from the forum community.

Thanks again, and Peace

think you'll find the default patch , how to load /find it , in the manual.
good luck
by the way, you'll only have to go through it once, thereafter you'll have your blank default preset, to your own wish.

Don't take my word for it but I think that you can only get the default patch when you initialise an entire bank.

Okay, thanks all for the replies.

@Sunny:

By the "default patch in the manual" do you mean simply switching to manual mode? I do understand that. I am just worried about the work it will take to find all the hidden modulation routings underneath the manual board.

Oh, and why LFO 2 as default mod instead of 1? You've made me curious.

Thanks for pointing me to where you shared a default patch, I will give it a try.
