Is that a broken-off plug left inside the jack?

i have messed around with them a bit more and it seems that every one of my meter probes (the sharp long tip ends) fit into them with a good snap feel. are these called "test jacks?"

and does anyone know where one would get plugs for that size?

Try a search for Pin Jack/Plug or Pin Tip Jack/Plug

Here's one source
http://www.mouser.com/Search/Refine.aspx?N=10834147&Keyword=Pin+Jack&FS=True

I like Pin tip jacks/plugs - but Banana's are a lot less expensive.

can't tell for sure from the picture... but old PAIA (2700/4700 series) used "tip jacks"; these may be of interest to PAIA fans...

i have plenty of them (1000+). i was trying to get 100 normal banana jacks for myself and ended up with these. i don't mind using them for the project but i cannot find cheap plugs/cables for them.

would a mini 8th fit them?
