Nord Lead 3: transpose? And a bug... Subject description: Does it have a programmable transpose per patch / per performance patch? |
 |
|
I was looking at the Nord Lead 3's sysex parameter list and noticed that there's a parameter called "Transpose". What's strange is that I can't find any reference in the manual about any transpose function other than the one in the Synth section which is system wide. Then it also occurred to me that there's no easy way to transpose the different patches in a performance either, which seems like quite an oversight.
Am I correct in my assessment that the NL3 has no patch transpose function? And that the parameter referred to is in fact from an older version of the NL3 firmware?
Now the bug (an amusing quirk really): if you press your arm down on the keyboard to set 24 notes (the maximum, since it's 24 notes polyphonic) into the chord memory (btw: interesting textures!), it will hold and play all 24 notes while you play one. However if you save the patch, only the first 15 notes will be remembered. It's a bug because the patch data actually remembers all 24 notes, but it only remembers a maximum count of 15 active notes. I don't think this will be fixed... |

I think I can live with the bug
Transpose, indeed...
In the Patch format.
Is there a way to change the parameter?
Should take a look....
For those who want to follw this thing [Manual page 156 about the 7th line from below]
Always wondered what Spare 3 would be

Well I tried different values for what bits are unused in that byte, and I keep getting a sysex error, so it must be a dead legacy value. Spare 3 & 4 have been re-tasked for sub-arpeggio parameters...
Actually here's another mystery: p 157 refers to "arpeggio_kbd_sync" (13 from the bottom. AFAIK, the only way to restart the arpeggio clock from the keyboard is via the Master Clock's "Clock Key Sync" setting, which isn't a program parameter, and can't be memorized per patch.
So this also appears to be a useless "legacy" setting. Can "anyone" confirm? Thanks (Wout )! |
