The other noise making iPhone/Touch app I love is RJDJ

I'm sorry for my crappy efforts in displaying everything- I need to get my shit together! Laughing

RJDJ uses a programming language called PD that is similar to Chuck or Max/msp in many ways, and can be programmed on your Mac or PC and uploaded into the iPhone.

The result can be quite disturbing- especially if you wear phones, and have a walk through the city centre!! Laughing

From the site:

Quote:
Think of it as the next generation of walkman or mp3 player. The listening experience of RjDj is similar to the effects of drugs. Drugs affect our sensory perception, so does RjDj. RjDj is a digital drug which causes mind twisting hearing sensation.

Amazing... I need this one for my jogging sessions! Very Happy

I have this application. It's lots of fun, but I didn't know you could write your own PD code for it. That's pretty neat. In fact, it's amazing. That's for this post.

This app makes me want to learn how to use PD!!!

I think it has taken over the top spot of my favourite apps, that's how good it is - esp when you consider that you can essentially make your own music apps, or tweak other people's creations. If you decide to roll your own, you have access to the mic, touch screen and accelometer, and you can download a pack from here, along with pd (linked): http://more.rjdj.me/composer/

If you get good at it, you can sell your creations through RJDJ, or just share for free.

For a good, first-time tuition, go here: http://blog.makezine.com/archive/2008/11/howto_hacking_rjdj_with_p.html?CMP=OTC-0D6B48984890

I recommend that you listen to "Echolon" when you first get RJDJ, and remix your day on the go. There are lots of other, free ones too and even if some of them are really taxing my 32 gb iPod, RJDJ never crashed, once, for my one or two hour session yesterday (where did the time go?).

RJDJ is free, so are many of the 'scenes' that you can download for it, and of course, PureData.

Oh, and one more thing; you can easily record what you hear too. This app is what the iThing is all about!

What is it? In simple terms, it is a PureData player! Go get it!!!!!!!

RJC 1000 is on its way, making it possible for just about anyone to create scenes for RjDj... No need to learn PD, although it is still available for those who want to create their own modules, etc.

If you are interested in this sort of thing, have a look at the manual which makes things clearer.

This is exciting stuff, making interactive (or reactive, as they call it) music for a portable platform such as the iThings.

I'm absolutely flat-out in love with it! Mr. Green

It will soon come to the Android too, hopefully!

http://more.rjdj.me/labs/ - beta version you can try, at you own risk and all that.

I must say that this app is almost too good to be true... I wouldn't be surprised if Apple finds some reason to kill it, just because it is such a great idea. Wink

Wmonk installed it too, and couldn't get any sound at all... For the moment it seems you are stuck with echolon, as the store is not available yet apparently.

It's well worth the wait though! I'll sound out in this thread as soon as I know when.

I got sound allright! Static screeching noise! shakng2 Didn't react much to ambient sound, like it claimed it would.

That does not even sound like it is in beta stage. Probably best to wait for a more official version.
