New EHX Effectology Video!
Electro-Harmonix Effectology, Vol.12 “The Uilleann Pipes”

Hi Everybody,
This episode of Effectology explores how to produce sounds like the haunting Irish Uilleann Pipes, Harmonic Drones, and Giant Field Drums using just a guitar and effect pedals..
Uilleann Pipes are an early form of Bagpipes that date back over 300 years.
They are one of the most expressive and beautiful instruments heard in Irish music.

To capture a little bit of the magic of this instrument, I used a Big Muff into a HOG pedal.
The HOG`s "Spectral Gate" stripped away all the raw upper harmonics of a Big Muff and left a beautiful, sweet singing tone!

The "Harmonic Drone" heard at the front section of the clip is interesting as it uses the EHX Stereo Electric Mistress to produce the sweeping chordal sound.
I froze a chord with the HOG and the combination flange\chorus of the Mistress produced a swirling sweep that seemed to never repeat itself.

The How-To and settings are here:

Thanks for listening.
