Nord Lead 1 Error and Pitch Bend/Mod Wheel issues |
 |
|
| I just got a Nord Lead 1 off eBay. When I start it up, it flashes "2.3", then "E", then "rA". Both the Pitch Bend and the Mod Wheel are not responsive. I opened it up with the tutorial I found here, and all the connections are good, nothing loose for suspect. I can't find any info on the other stuff it's flashing at start up. The chip is 2.3. Is this an easy fix, what kind of cost would I be looking at to get this fixed? The seller I bought this off of has a 3 day return policy if there is anything wrong, so I'm probably going to just return it and get my money back. I paid $460, but with the costs of repair, it's probably more than I'm looking to spend. I've seen this issue pop up here a lot, so it seems to be a common problem, so I figured I could get an idea of what the issue is and how much it would be to fix it. I also emailed Clavia, but I'm not sure how long it will take for them to get back to me. |

| Thanks for the reply. Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. I'm somewhat on the fence about returning it, as without the pitch bend and mod wheel, it's still got all the functionality of the rack version, and I paid about the same price for this as the rack version is going for on the used market. Still, it's frustrating that it doesn't work. |

Hi,
Just returned an hour ago
If a NordLead (key version) opens in rA it can’t find the controllers. Not only the PitchStick and the ModWheel, but also the keyboard itself. Did you checked these cables too?
It could be there is something broken, like a loose solder contact at the Stick/Wheel connection.
Maybe the keyboard is broken, in which case it rather expansive to repair. A return to the seller is the thing to do…

The keyboard works fine, just the Stick and Wheel aren't working. I checked the contacts for the Stick and Wheel, and everything looked fine, no loose connections or bad solder points as far as I could tell. What kind of cost is it to fix this issue? I'm not terribly concerned, as the keyboard works, and even with the issue, it's just like having the rack version. |

| Well I ended up returning the synth to the seller for a refund today. After Wout said the issue usually means that the keyboard doesn't work either, I figured I'd just return it rather than have other issues start popping up. Perhaps I'll get another one later on if the price is right. Thanks for the help. |
