I have muttered on about this in a couple of other posts and here it is. All the useful stuff is in the PDF and again I am posting the board layout as a TIF so that the scaling doesn't get mangled up. Hope it is of some interest...

Hey, thanks for that Forbin! Very Happy I'm sure the gang will be delighted!

FWIW, before I sold my last MS20, I duped the filter board (it was the Mk2 version, with the LM13600 (or was that LM137?)), and copied all the values down. Anyway, one day, I will do a clone of that.

I also photographed the external signal processor board. Why no one has done a clone of that yet, is totally beyond me. Confused

Thanks! That's very considerate of you. I wish everyone would do the same. Because I use a Mac, many of my pcb design downloads, the scalling was all wrong. Eventually I gave up, because there was too much waste, and too much hair pulling!

so you used transistors as diodes? nice idea! and i still have some that300 in the drawer...
but wouldn't it be cheaper to just match 4 1n4148 diodes? what is the advantage of using transistors?

true -- i have been meaning to try just 4 matched (and 4 random) 1n4148'3 but just haven't had the time -- the main reason is to provide good thermal bonding as much as anything. Apparently (reading some of the other diode filter designs) the CV rejection is pretty critical on good matching... Laying it out this way does give me the opportunity to do either way...

How difficult would it be to convert this filter to high pass?

FWIW, using the original CA3019 doesn't guarantee good CV rejection. I built two copies of this filter back in '95 with that array chip and the rejection is horrible.

I sold my Mk2 version MS20 after building Low Pass and High Pass clones from this artwork--the clones sound exactly the same to me:

Wow! Are any of these due to become available as manufactured PCBs?

Doesn't that use a four gang pot? Anyway, I'd love to see the photos!

No four ganged pot in sight! Yes, I'll dig the pix out- maybe tomorrow Smile (They are on a drive in the loft right now Smile ). It'll be great to have a clone of this. It's the best feature on the MS20 as far as I'm concerned!

That would be great! jackson dancing

(Jeez, we got a lot of smilies )

I've been trying to summon up the guts to ask an acquaintance to photograph his, but he is very finicky about his lovely gear.

Perhaps start a new thread?
