Sorry I haven't posted any shows in a few weeks, I'll get around to that soon. In the mean time, here is a photo of the mic that I built for the show. Now I will no longer have to fiddle with intermittent problems and gain/noise issues related to the headset mic.

Yes I built it, it's only about six inches long, just one chip and some discretes. It's just a mic preamp and amp and a limited simple pan circuit going to an 1/8" jack. Nothing special, but it's a big deal to me because I've had four months of problems with the headset mic.

For one thing, it's an area mic, or whatever the term is, so I can have guests on the show without having mic problems. Also the headset mic would intermittently go out of service at the worst moments and require a reboot to fix it. Plus the headset mic is well a headset mic and as such is not designed to function as an area mic.

What is really needed is a mic/mixer/stand solution but that's not in the budget for a while, so this little homebrew mic is being very helpful.

Here is tonight's show which is entirely based on the Credit Card Synth that I'm working on. It is a BS+KS minimal circuit that will fit on a PCB the size of a credit card.

Beware! HUGE volume spikes are in this recording, please do not listen with headphones at the peril of your ears! I've got to build a mixer with compression or build compression into these circuits somehow, but for now beware!

Announcement: Inventor's Inventions will now become an unscheduled show instead of a twice monthly scheduled show. This is primarily due to the hectic nature of doing two shows (the other is the Les Hall Show), which has really added a bit of stress to my life. I need to chill out a bit more...

chill I need a chill pill...

I find that doing a Thursday show, a Tuesday show, and another Thursday show basically makes for three shows in a week period which is a bit much. Also it is a bit difficult to come up with material for both shows. But fear not, Inventor's Inventions will be on the air occasionally as enough techie material develops.
