LoKi brings the mischief... |

A big hello to all who read this!
(a big middle finger to all who don't bother )
I am LoKi (pronounced "low-key" and written with a capital L and K) and I come from somewhere in the Netherlands - a reasonably nice place to be, all in all.
I started making music afew years ago when I had no money, no work and lots of time. I was given Magix music maker (hah! the nostalgia!) by a friend, and was subsequently absent from my usual day to day life for a couple of weeks. (You could say I'd been blowing my first creative load!)
Now I continue to make electronic music, using varied software, and very limited hardware. Some of my favorite tools are:
Sonar 4, Ableton Live! 4, Absynth 1+2, Triangle 1+2, FLStudio 5, and a squeaky Roland E-16 (soon to be replaced by a Novation X-station!).
I don't generally categorize my music into genres or sub-genres (mostly because I find it very hard to do), but generally I tend to drift somewhere between techno, tech-house, deep-house, and electro.....I think?
Anyway.....
I attached a track for you to listen to (or not - free world right? ), it's a big file 13Mb or so, but high bitrate and over 6 mins long... I hope it's not tto big - if so maybe someone can re-encode it and post it here at a lower bitrate???
I am ALWAYS open to critique, but heed one warning:
Being of a bi-polar nature, I may react with intense hatred and loathing at negative reviews and such, but as you read my seething response I will be re-reading the critique over and over and it WILL get through to me!
It is also because of my bi-polar disorder that I may edit many of my posts, realising their inappropriateness in retrospect - your patience and understanding in this please???
Moderators feel free to do this on my behalf if you feel the need, but please do not hold a grudge (I never to my knowledge use profanity or morally offensive language).
EDIT: TRACK REMOVED, LOW BITRATE VERSION WILL BE POSTED IN PLACE A.S.A.P. _________________

LoKi, glad to have you here.
No problem with the bipolar disorder thingie. There are lots of people with that one. We have lots of wierd poeple here, even retired business executives.
Seriously, support and respect are our shared values here, so even when some one is critical, it doesn't mean a put down. So don't jump to conclusions and give everyone the benifit of the doubt. Hatred and loathing are a little bit distastefull.
You certainly have a great set of programs...
You're track sounds great. I'm not into the techno style personally but I like this one - especially the track that sounds like someone getting goofy.
If it was my track I'd add some background textures or something to get it sustained interest. _________________ --Howard

Hey thanks for the quick welcome!
And thanks again for listening to my track!
I know what you mean about the textures (at least I think I do - something along the lines of an extended pad or choral line, or maybe I'm completely on the wrong track?) but that is something I can't seem to get right using the soft synths I have... any advice? _________________

Me give advice?
I'm on old avant-guardist and I know nothing about this style. I would think something very simple that doesn't repeat at a beat boundary. Not real dramatic. Maybe a very thin gurgle - you seem to have skill at that.
Maybe I'm totally off... _________________ --Howard
