I just got an Android phone and have been trying every app I can get my hands on.
Exciting new thing!
It'd be nice to have some feedback on the apps as well as on the Android version and hardware.
This way, newbies like myself can get some references without wasting time in "the market" where audio apps are among thousands of others (needle in haystack experience).

Hardware: SonyEricsson X8
Android version: 2.1
Working audio apps:

- Su-Preme MPA BETA
- Mini Piano
- My Piano Assistant
- Recorder free
- Synthesizer
- Sight Read
- gStrings
- xPiano
- Piano
- My Drums
- My Piano
- Basichords
- Mobile Metronome
- Zaery Keyboard
- RD3 Demo
- Ethereal Dialpad
- VirtualSynthesizer
- Etherophone
- BeatBoxx
- Touch Drummer Demo
- LAS-9
- NoiseGen
- WildSpectra Mobile Lite
- Pure Data Test & Scene Player
- Circle of Fifths
- SiO2
- BallDroppings
- Tanpura Droid
- Xylophone Free
- Interval Recognition
- Pitch tutor Free
- PP-Electone
- FingerPlay
- JamBox
- Learn Guitar with SpyTunes
- Chordboard
- TouchOSC
- Lumin
- Sonorox
- MusicGrid
- Virtual Recorder
- Buddhist Instruments
- Cadeli Drum Machine
- Chordbot Lite
- Party Mixer
- Drumkit
- SPL Meter free
- Audalyzer
- RTA Analyzer
- Frequency Generator
- Speak and Spell
- PdDroidParty

I also added a couple of emulators which allow me to run GameBoy and Commodore 64 apps (good for gbsound/nanovoice and Cynthcart).

- Tiger GBC
- Frodo C64

Wow new forum! Smile

I think you can add Jasuto (Pro?) to that list, but it might still be a little buggy.

Have a look on Jasuto's own forum

All the apps I mentioned are free (some with the obvious limitations).
Jasuto is a paid app.
Nevertheless, might be worth checking out.

Oh I see, I didn't catch that. Jasuto is definitely an app worth checking out nevertheless. There is a VST version which is free but I have not been able to get it to work.

So TouchOSC is free on Android? Interesting...

Actually, it's donationware.
I'm making a visual feedback tool for all the layouts using Pure Data.
Two layouts more and I'll be done.
That way it'll be easy to track the fader/rotary/toggle/push/key data and send it to a MIDI CC, for instance.

Interesting stuff. Considering you could get an Android (1.6, maybe 2.1) tablet for less than $200 it would make nice controller for Max/PD or Live. However, there's more to come, Android 2.3 will get new audio engine & API closing gap to iPad/iPhone/iPod applications:

Jasuto was probably the very first or second app I downloaded when I got my android a week and a half ago. and I STILL haven't given it a serious look.

mostly due to other priorities/lazyness.

Interesting indeed!

i use the monome emulator a lot when i'm on tour/travelling. i seem to get some weird random note stuff occasionally on my droid x, but it is pretty solid.

i can't wait till touchOSC can support multitouch or templates for android.

Monome for android is conceptually cool, but to me personally it defeats the purpose of portable electronics.

I'd love to see a version of this with a simple synth. Even if it's just single osc, single LFO and ADSR.

I recently updated my Samsung vibrant to 2.2 Froyo - took T-Mobile long enough to post it. Evil or Very Mad

So since it was operating faster I decided to try some other apps. I got Electrum Drum (paid app - ~ $4) and it's pretty cool. I was looking for something to use at practice as a basic slightly-more-sohisticated-then-normal metronome....this works great. You can load your own drum samples (the developer sells 'kits' like Alesis SR-16, Linn Drum, etc... $8 and up.) Or you can import your own samples and loops. Basically a pattern sequencer - you create several patterns and then in the song editor you can arrange the patterns. You can also do some basic loop/sample editing.

Also downloaded TouchDAW free - haven't had a chance to work with it much.... Certain functions are not available in the free version..

>>> UPDATE <<<

CAUSTIC the non-demo version has been released! Only $3.99 in the android market. Save of presets/songs etc. are now supported. The developer - Single Cell - has a thread on KVR here:
http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/topic-317623.html

Cool application!

--------------------------
Downloaded CAUSTIC Music Rack Demo - neat application! The demo doesn't expire but save/load/export are disabled. The actual paid version hasn't been released yet.

Includes:
1x Virtual Analog subsynth
2x PCM synths with 23 audio samples included
2x 303-like BassLine synths
1x Sampling Drum machine w/9 demo kits
1x Mixer with Delay/Reverb
1x Song Sequencer....You have a sequencer track for each of the synths/drum machine.

Hopefully the actual released version will be inexpensive like most of the Android apps. BTW - been running it on my Samsung Vibrant with 2.2 Froyo....
