The Sound Lab Mini-Synth by RJWSoft has two VCOs, one LFO, one Mixer, one State Variable Low-Pass/Band-Pass Filter, one AR Envelope Generator with repeat, and one VCA. It runs off of two nine volt batteries for a long time due to its low current design. The Sound Lab Mini-Synth can make a myriad of sounds limited only by your vivid imagination. You will have fun building and playing with this excellent synth project.

They sell the PCB for $30 US, you get the parts yourself. Sounds like a fund weekend project! It has CV inputs...I'm considering one as an expansion to my Fatman!

Thanks for the link jk. I saw this a few weeks ago and ordered some stuff a little while later. The last of it arrived today!

So I've been soldering all day, and have finally finished the pcb Cool. I stuffed up the order and missed a capacitor and a resistor, so I'll have to take off to the electronics shop tomorrow, but apart from that the board is done. Smile

Now I have to build a case and wire up all the pots, switches and plugs, which will probably take about a week... I'm still not sure what to use as a case, but I'm thinking a briefcase might work nicely (to make it look more like a vcs3 Very Happy), but I'm not sure.

Anyways, I'll keep you guys posted - hopefully I'll have sound examples up by the end of the week!

Embarassed

Hahaha, unfortunately valentines day doesn't mean much to me at the moment. Hence why I'm building a new synth/girlfriend to keep me up at night Laughing

The guy who develps these doesn't have a forum for his users. So I just created one under Instruments and Equipment. Maybe some of the people who put together these kits would enjoy being part of our forum.

Very Happy

I am almost tempted to try building that thing myself.

Hi all,

I ordered two boards from Ray about two weeks ago, it will take some
time before I'll receive them because I'm based in dirty old europe...
But I already gathered all the components...
I would like also to have it powered not from the batteries but from an AC
adaptor... Let's see if Ray comes with a pcb for this Smile

ciao
Alex

Here in Italy (that's where I'm from) I'm wandering through the stores,
but if you don't plan to go on the "surplus" way (so exctracting what may
be useful from old electronics), I'm planning an expense of about 100-120
euros, excluding the box to contain it. I intend to use it with audio quality
pots and connectors, since I want to integrate it in my ever growing rig.

... and then there are my personal noisemaking boxes, but I can't talk
about them...

If I tell you I have to kill you Smile

I'm joking, I have some selfbuilt oscillators and filterbanks, but those
are still wired without boards or boxes, so I can't give you an exact
description since everytime I use them I change the circuits Very Happy
