Does anyone know how I can get a copy of his 1980 paper on synthesising the singing voice?

This is another beautiful one.

Here's a list that has Chowning's papers. It looks like the one you want is in a publication by the Swedish Academy of Music. It may be difficult to find that one.

Thanks GE, I was going for an ‘opera’ style soprano voice but it does sound like a violin Embarassed . The variation in formants between the vowels are quite subtle in that register. My crude modulator cross fading between random points only sometimes has a vocal quality. Hence my interest in reading John Chowning's paper.

Again a performance i cant download with my mac... why is this happening from time to time? it allways opens within the browser and a manual download is not possible...only the download php. gets offered..

awesome... really expansive and crystalline. it does sound like a soprano, too.
hey, i noticed all multi-word patches are downloading to my PC with underscores in their names... this didn't used to happen and maybe it's causing problems for you, 3phase...
