Should the G2 editor have a way to set a single modules parameters for all variations?

How many of you have run into this one?

You're making a patch, and you decide you're pretty close to what you want, so you start tweaking, making morphs, coming up with some different variations.

Then you hit a limitation of the patch, and decide, well the patch actually needs another module. So you add your module and set up the parameters in a way that makes sense.

Then when you go to any other variation of the patch, the settings on the new module are wrong, because there is no way to set defaults for a single module through all the variations. So you have to go and manually adjust the new module in all your variations.

In some ways it's not a big deal, but I find that the more effort I've already put into patch variations the more reluctant I get to add another module. It discourages iterative refinement.

Wouldn't it be nice if there were some way to set a single module's parameters thru all variations?

I run into this often, what I do is select the new module(s), press Ctrl+C then use the 1 through 8 buttons on the PC Keyboard to select each variation and press Ctrl+E (paste parameters). With practice it can be done quite quickly but I wouldn’t say no to a right click “Paste parameters to all variations” option.

Such an option has actually once been field tested, in a way that it could be turned on and off. It was hell, as when forgetting to turn it off it was possible to accidentally change seven different settings in the seven other variations. Which one would always found out after the damage was done. So, the option disappeared. I can assure that the Ctrl-C -> Ctrl-E option is a lot healthier. Very Happy
