Parameter Randomizer |
|
|
As I am a random freak, I would like to see (as in many other softsynths)
a way to randomize a patchs parameter.
The G2 is a complex instrument and there is no way that random cable connection would even produce a sound so i could imagine to select a finished patch or even some modules of a patch and than have the knobs and settings randomized. I love this function on a waldorf, most of the sounds are harsh and wild but

Thanks Wout,
I have to explore that when I have access to my G2, but still I would find this more comfortable as a part of the editor, i know myself and using a software to program a software is sometime not what i would do everyday.
But I will give this try for sure, I have some patches that would love some treatment! _________________ Best,

I'd love to see a randomizer built into the G2 editor, as well, with options such as degree of randomness, seed, whether we'd like to randomize knobs, wire connections, both, etc. |

Yes Yes!! I think the ability to randomize a particular module, or the entire patch (VA/FX seperately!) is inspiring enough for me. |

Yes, the Kyma system does this. It's very cool. _________________ --Howard

Indeed, that would be great!
A randomizer where you can define how much % is randomized.
D'cota has this, you can randomize any patch with any amount you like.
It's a very powerfull feature! I would LOVE this! |

maybe i've sended this one before. It's for slot A. Load an other patch in slot B and give it midi CC's(up to 32). Go back to slot A and push the Dice button.(and experiment with the others). Variation 1 will change 32 parameters, variation 2 will change 32 other parameters for slot B. Var 3&4 are for slot C. Var 5&6 are for slot D.
This patch is a tribute to Palle Dahlsteds program "EvolveCC". |

There is a lot of randomizing to study for me thanks to
Wout, Jan and Roland!
This list is a treasure _________________ Best,

Yes, Jan, it makes you wonder why it's referred to as Chaos Theory.

Dear Jan,
When I put your name in the list of random patch providers I was referring to your Lorenz and Rossler work.
It must be that my minor math talents may got somethings wrong and it is more Chaos Theory than random?
btw. My "General" is more based on the General Elektric Company making Bulbs than to a military title, I did 20 month of civil service instead of joining army _________________ Best,

You are right there it's about chaos theory (as I understand it, see http://amath.colorado.edu/faculty/jdm/faq.html for some definitions of terms) and although I think this to be very interesting by no means I'm mastering the subject. Thes chaotic systems are more interesting IMO than pure random, when tweaked well the chaos systems come up with almost human variations, where pure random almost never does so. Thes chaotic systems sort of are on the edge between order and chaos.

I always thought your name to be refeing to the company, but sometimes these little jokes creep in ... I'm sorry when you feel offended by it, I didn't want to cause that.
I myself refused to do military service as well but although I was supposed to do some form of civil service I could talk myself out of that thanks to the government messing things up quite a bit. I wouldn't have minded to do some usefull work, but there were not many usefull things to do at that time, just things like sorting out archives. Nowadays there would be plenty of usefull work to do, thanks to the crashing health system, but there is no system of military / civil service in effect anymore. There is quite some chaos in society as well I guess ....
