After poking around on the DSI site I couldn't find my answers.

Is the poly Evolver multitimbral?

Can the digital oscillators modulate one another in ways that could not be done with a monoevolver?

Ex osc 3 * osc 4 * osc 7 * osc 8

Can I create a single 16 oscillator voice through one filter for a huge monophonic synth sound?

I don't own a polyevolver, but do have the evolver.

I would say:

NO, oscs can't effect other oscs in other voices.

YES, you CAN make a massive 16 OSC voice (it's called UNISON mode). The other oscillators won't go through a single filter, however all filters will be set and controlled teh same, as well as the VCAs, and thanks to modern math we know about superposition, which means it doesn't matter. The sound will be the same (other than overloading a filter with too high a signal).

Think of the poly evolver as four mono evolvers (=voices) in the same chassis. When you press a key on the keyboard it will - in normal polyphonic mode - trigger one of the evolvers in a round-robin style, and all four evolvers will be tweaked the same when you turn the knobs.

In combo mode you can bundle together the four evolvers however you want, making the unit multitimbral. You decide which combos should respond to the keyboard or midi channel of your choice. You tweak each combo separately by switching between them.

All evolvers/voices have separate outputs at the back of the unit (in addition to the main output which is a mix of all four). Using a separate mixer, you could use this to route three voices into the fourth (there is only one audio input), making a 12 oscillator voice go through the single filter in the fourth voice - to make a comparison to your huge monophonic sound example.

Using the separate voices outputs + audio input you can modulate one evolver voice's filter (the only thing I can think of that can be modulated using external audio) with another.

/Stefan

Indeed as Antimon just said it has four voices which roll over - meaning that the first voice played get taken away when you add a 'fifth' voice etc.
