I've sent all morning trying to connect with the help of the guys in chat, but I'm in University accommodation and I think the ports I need are disabled.
I was wondering if someone else with an early slot would be able to do us a huge favour and stream our set? It's pre-recorded and I've mastered it to the right mp3 for the stream. It's about 28mb.
What time is your set?
It's at 15:30 on the 31st.
I'll do it.
Let me know where I can grab your file. I have FIOS, so bandwidth is not an issue. I'll do another stream test this afternoon.
I'll be on chat. I have some chores to do this morning and am meeting a friend for lunch, but I'll be around in the afternoon (I'm in the eastern US).
Thank you very much! I'll send you a message with the mp3.
Damien, I've changed the port to be used for patternsintheivy to public_4 so you need to change port settings for it. _________________ Jan
also .. could someone please turn down the thermostat a bit.

Thanks, Jan. I'm going to make sure everything is set up now...
EDIT:
... aaand check.
I'm already slotted onto public_4, so this makes it easy. _________________ There's an invisible radio gnome playing a gong from a flying teapot - don't miss out!

this is just the opinion of one, respectful audient..
if you can't play a LIVE set, maybe consider stepping aside and letting one of the many other artist who want to play step in?
i would say this to any artist here so this is no dis to 'patterns in the ivy'
either way, good luck.
looking forward to listening to everyone's sets.
CHEERS
The original plan was to play a live set, but due to laptop problems and my paranoia that we wouldn't be able to get through the university firewall we decided to record it a couple of days in advance.
It's not like we're just reeling off some songs we had lying around, there is material that we wrote specifically for this event and I spent a lot of time working on it.

Sorry Dale...but commercial covers aren't allowed on electro-music. We can be sued for that unfortunately.

My set was Programmed Hell Volume IV. I've moved all stuff related to Programmed Hell here. _________________ There's an invisible radio gnome playing a gong from a flying teapot - don't miss out! Last edited by audiodef on Wed Mar 07, 2012 4:39 pm; edited 4 times in total

my set without internet problems Subject description: comments welcome as it was not heard properly live ;-)
Apologies to the audience for buffering problems , thanks for your patience and help Jez, very frustrating at my end paying so much a month for internet connection and having it dropping out so much, shall fix that however I need to. Set is 22 minutes.
Here is the set I performed as you should have heard it with guests percussionist Astro Dave and vocalist Sheah Spark. The next 8-10 minutes of patches that were to be used can be saved for another piece.

Here's my set, featuring mostly Octatrack sequences of OP-1 samples, which I made over a couple of days before nye.
Lovely performances all around - thanks for another great event, even though the news of two beloved forum members having passed away threw a veil of sadness over it all.

streamrecordings and pre-NYE music
Thanks everybody for organizing and playing, I enjoyed the music a lot
I recorded all the performances allthough some recordings did get messed up
due to drops in the stream. But If you need a recording of your set send me a pm, I might have it.
now, before the event officially started, I played around for a couple of hours
with live fireworks sounds from outside and a SK-1 (either to sample or just
layer some sound on top of it). posted below is a small bit which I think had
some nice sounds in it. (be warned, there is a part where the fireworks get loud).
I have to check what more is in there and might post some more
excerpts.
HAPPY 2012!!
edit: added another bit

This is what I used for my NYE set: tenori-on in push (drone) mode controlling blofeld running through t-resonator 'time woven filter matrix' (plus repeater for looping, out of shot)

Subject description: A Sonic Tweet
Here's my Sonic Tweet from last night. My only small complaint is that I forgot to set up a glass of water for the blues harmonica, so my reed bending was quite thin. A gazillion cables and pieces of software interlocked and working, but I forgot the damned cup of water. Next time!
The soft synths are all Applied Acoustics -- Chromaphone that came out at Thanksgiving used for assorted percussion, the flute from Tassman and the electric guitar from String Studio. I tweaked the patches somewhat, but mostly I applied Scrabble-to-MIDI to drive the thing. It may be the swan song for S2M, because I am working on its successor that is quite more flexible in several regards, including support for live coding in Python.
I played my Godin xtsa MIDI guitar through a Roland GE-33, plus a Hohner G blues harp, cross-harped into D, with effects and mixing in Ableton Live.
Happy New Year to all, and thanks to the folks who ran the stream and the performers. It's always fun.

Blofeld's great, innit? Can't wait to have the ability to run individual patches to external effects in multi mode, because you can't assign individual effects on-board. _________________ There's an invisible radio gnome playing a gong from a flying teapot - don't miss out!
