Tonight's AIS will be a recording I made on Sunday night as I'm out at a gig

It's FM-eral ambient glitch, made using just a Yamaha PSR-380, Alesis Wedge and Boss DD-20, some bits might sound a bit broken, but that is by design Wink

Many thanks in advance to Rob for streaming the show for me Smile

AIS number 121 "serenity particle".

A lot of noise with some garbled stuff in it.

I listened to the first part of this. it sounded to me like we got in a ship and traveled interspatialdimensionally through some rough dark matter clusters to get to our ne realm, which was a nasty place. then i started having violent thoughts about things i won't mention so i shut off the music and took a nap. weird eh?

Sorry to hear about that Les. I'm not sure what to make of it as the music takes on a life of its own some times and I just follow... I hardly ever spare a thought as of which mood it may convey or wherther it is dark or happy etc.

Nah, its not just you Les, I've at times scared people too with my sounds - not that I ever done so on purpose, but it seems to happen .. and in some moods I've been scared by music too and have needed to turn it off. We all have our own ways there ...

Tonight's set will be some weird ambient stuff using wavestation, blofeld and boardweevil processed granularly by nord g2, or something like that Wink

and here's the recording, it starts off quite slowly but builds and gets quite noisy in places then ends with a bit of a rock out, apparently Wink

weird noises produced via granular processing of boardweevil 2012 using nord g2, ambient synth sounds from blofeld and wavestation, sequences from emu vintage pro triggered by tenori-on, looping by repeater, reverb and delay by wedge

AIS 123 "leap"

Extended episode, just short of 100 minutes.

I do still have a problem with overloading the circuits ocasionally, due to the way I have my audio interfaces set up. I have a solution to this and will hopefully get it sorted before next time.

Here's the recording for Episode 124, for this episode I used an Akai AX60 and DR220E, with the AX60s arp synced via clock out from the DR220E drum machine, which can be interesting as the DR220E sends a trigger on the cowbell, so it plays whatever pattern you have programmed in for that and you can then add/remove notes on the fly to change arp pattern Smile

Tonight's episode will feature VSS-30, BoardWeevil, monotron and lots of weird samples, some of which might be from this, the re-issued CD of which just happened to arrive today Smile

Episode 126 used VSS-30, BoardWeevil, Monotron, DR220E and various samples, including some heavily processed Doctor Who sound fx and my own VCS3 samples. Due to some inexplicable monitoring issues, I could only hear sounds when they came round in the loop, so was flying blind in a way, which was an interesting way to play!

This was my last AIS... I may do more but for the moment I need to at least take a break and regroup. It has been fun and a big learning experience for me!

I have no idea what I will do next but the plan is to do more "studio" based stuff, ie not live. We will see how that goes...

Anyway... this set was largely based on a recording of additive synth bells in this thread by JovianPyx. Many thanks for that Scott! Smile

The title, "the burning ear" came from Jez, who had cooked with chillies and touched his ear. Laughing

Sad

I understand, I have been finding it hard to come up with ideas of late, but I will keep going as long as strange musical thoughts keep popping into my head, so I guess this means AIS will be fortnightly unless any guest performers fancy a go

Perhaps Birch Transmogrifier can take a guest spot in a month or two, ask woody.
