3 jacks & smaller knobs are CV ins for Osc 1,2, and filter. really enjoying the sounds, think it will be a perfect playpal for little boy blue & jealous heart. _________________ www.fluxmonkey.com |

Awesome build Dave! I love the layout. Reminds me of eric archers style If you've seen any of his work. Rather than putting panels in a rack he makes each module as its own little box attached to a board....
Have you installed buffered inputs for the rungle data and clock?
I put some schematics for doing that on my site here:

i don't know how i missed that page, but i've been planning on building another one with a lot of the same ideas. i've especially been wanting an option for an external clock on the rungler. thanks for the other ideas, great build! _________________ http://www.youtube.com/user/borisandfef |

I assume you saw the modular benjolin page?
http://casperelectronics.com/finished-pieces/benjolin/modular-benjolin/
I've found the extra outputs and inputs to be very useful.
The data input is especially useful. If you send NO data signal the rungle out is an 8 step loop. If you send -9Volts to the data in the rungle out is a 16 step loop. you can also do interesting stuff by sending one of the bits from one looping rungler into the data of another and make longer loops. |

Thanks Pete! man I need to visit this forum a bit more..
I am actually going to remove this from its box and give it a proper panel with the mods (and maybe some more!) for inclusion in my next modular cabinet..
I do love Eric Archer style also, unfortunately its a little chaotic for my taste, to easy for things to get broken or a cable to get lodged in the wrong place and yank something broken permanently.. just my pref circuits are better protected by panel/case... _________________ Dave

A kind of super-Benjolin... “Catjar in the Rye” (or “Betty”, as she is know to her friends) is an experimental sound instrument built for Swedish composer Andreas Catjar. It combines a chaotic Benjolin synthesizer, extreme fuzz distortion unit, a speaker/contact-mic feedback system and “circuit-bending”-style body contacts into one rugged flightcase. The Benjolin features several modifications, including patchable routing banana jacks, LED lights for the three stages of its analog shift register and an external audio input.
My thanks go out to Rob Hordijk for providing this circuit, and to Pete Edwards/Casper Electronics for his help in working out the modifications.

After the October 12, 2012 premier performance, maybe you could post an audio file here. I'd love to hear what that beautiful instrument sounds like.
Beautiful work... _________________ --Howard

Actually, I didn't notice the double-sided pro boards in this thread before, also curious of the source... _________________ Esoteric drones and nonlinear distortion

new zeitgeist. awesome audiofuckery. modified the board layout to allow for mounting the pots on the front or the back. NOTE: the footprint of the 1702 regulator is NOT THE SAME as a standard 7805... released some majic smoke finding that out, check your data sheets. gonna live with it for a bit, but may add an attenuator on the cv in, could use a little taming

My first venture into this particular forum!
Here's a dual benjolin I put together. In MOTM modular format.
Not quite done yet, it still needs led drivers |

Finished a dual "Butterfly" Benjolin literally two hours before a trans-Atlantic flight to Texas. This one is mine, but I can make one for you if you ask real nice... _________________ Esoteric drones and nonlinear distortion
