Would you like to see a CC hook feature implemented? |
Definitely yes, life is miserable without it! |

Maybe, but I´m not sure if it could be implemented in a clean fashion. |

I don´t care, I have the keyboard version (or other means of advanced external control). |

No, not really. It does not sound like a too bright idea to me... |

Hook Feature For Midi CCs |
 |
|
Again something especially for the G2 Engine users and others wanting to use "blind" pots instead of (possibly led collared) rotary (endless) dials for controlling parameters: a NM G1 style "hook knob" feature, but this time for midi CCs.
If you have a simple midi knob controller with no fancy talkback features or anything like that and especially if you´re like me, wanting to program the whole multi-bank parameter control system inside G2 a patch, you might appreciate if Clavia were to introduce a midi CC parameter hook feature in an upcoming update.
For those not familiar with a hook feature
Knob hook means that a parameter on a system does not change until the corresponding control knob has moved past the point that indicates the value of the parameter. This eliminates any unwanted "jumps" in parameters after a patch change etc.
On a NM G2, hook mode enabled, a parameter assigned to a midi CC would not change until the CC had moved past the value of the parameter. The hook flags should be reset on a patch change, on a variation change (except for the "inter-variation" [global] parameters which we will hopefully see in the future!) AND VERY IMPORTANTLY, if the user so decides, from the patch itself (as the system needs to be informed on a controller bank change). (Manually resetting individual hook flags would probably be too complicated.)
I hope at least part of this makes some sense to some of you...

This is a good idea. I'm pretty surprised at the lack of such options on Clavia synths in general, but especially on a programmable modular system.
Access' synths have a choice for this feature, let me see...I think it's something like Hook (they call it Catch), Jump (which is what we've got) and another option (Pick up?) which just moves the control up or down as you turn the knob regardless of where the knob was (ie the parameter can reach maximum or minimum before knob reaches full throw)

Why not use an NRPN in place of a standard CC?
I believe NRPNs have an INC/DEC option which would let you change a given controller value from it's current location, instead of jumping.
However there is more midi overhead to using NRPN's, than a standard CC, and from looking at the BCR2000's manual, there are many different formats for NRPN (14 bit, absolute, etc)
However, adding this capability using the G2's midi modules might be cumbersome.
As least it's a starting point. |

Is there some way, via MIDI, to request a MIDI CC dump? You can do it on the keyboard by pussing buttons, but of course that does nothing for the engine owners. Then, the current values would be dumped to your midi controller, and dealt with over there.
Just an idea... |

Yes- there's a sysex request command to ask for the CC dump- it's in the back of the G2 manual- near the midi implementation chart |
