How about a category for sequencers?
There are lots of them out there, both SW and HW, recording and step, etc.
I found a new software step sequencer:

I haven't tried it but it looks interesting. |

Greg,
Thanks for the suggestion. I created a new "sequencer" forum. You are the moderator. _________________ --Howard

I don't know if any of you have tried the VAZ 2010 softsynth demo. It's a pretty interesting softsynth - 16 of them actually. What I found to be the best about it though was the sequencer - very powerful. I emailed the software programmer (sorry - don't have his name handy) and asked if he would consider making it a seperate package. He said they had considered it but it is not going to happen soon. Unfortunately the sequencer only works in VAZ 2010. here is the link to the company site:
http://www.software-technology.com/
They also offer several other versions of the VAZ synth. Maybe if enough people ask them they will develop a stand-alone versin of th e2010 sequencer..

First I've heard of VAZ. I checked out the site and downloaded the demo of the Modular system. It looks pretty cool, but I can't say I'd use it over my Nord Modular. The sequencer looks nice, like you say. Hope to get some time to load it up and kick the tires.
For software sequencing, I use Techno Toys Seq 303. They are out of production, but the software still works great. Terry in Orbital Decay uses this one too. _________________ --Howard

I'm not really a big software fan, but I like SoftStep.

The sequencer in VAZ modular is ok - but the one in VAZ 2010 has more features.. My problem with VAZ is primarily visual - it's hard to quickly move areound and see where you are going. The modular program has a LOT of features though...we're getting into softesynths now...
I wish Techno Toys would put out Seq 303 - I have a demo I d'ld a while ago - but I can't get it registered.... |

One of my students asked me if there was a music sequencer (hopfully with audio recording to hard drive) for Linux or Unix?
I'm not that much of a computer person, just MAC and MOTU.
Any help?
