Lead 4 rack silent after sequence Subject description: Voice shutdown |
 |
|
| I think my Ensoniq SD1 is sending a midi message after the sequence is shut off, maybe "all-notes-off" ??? Except that the Nord doesn't recover. It stays silent when played from the SD1 or my ensoniq TS12. My TS12 apparently doesn't send this message, as the Nord works fine after the TS12's sequence is shut down. I have not run both sequencers together yet. The midi light continues to flash when I play notes on the SD1, but no sound emits. I can still run sequences and play both keyboards AS the sequence runs, but as soon as the sequence is shut off, silence. The only recovery I've found that works is to cycle the Nord power... a pretty extreme measure in my opinion, since as soon as I fire-up/stop a sequence, it's gonna re-sleep. |

| I agree with your logic, but I can't find what utility might be sending it. I looked thru some of the track Event Lists on the SD1, didn't see any. I SURE didn't ask for it. |

| I can run the TS12 from the SD1 with no problem... or at least, it worked this morning... I'm about to go rerun that experiment. |

Is there a way of turning off controller reception in the Nord 4? I know you can do that on earlier models.
You could also hook up the SD1 to a midi monitor on a computer... Use Midiox for pc, or Snoize for mac. If something is unclear, search the terms or post here. _________________ Muied Lumens Sub Forum

HI Lumens, yes, on my list of things to try. I really don't want to shut down controllers, but just as an experiment, I will. I just recently downloaded Midiox, and got the interface box. That looks complicated, especially since there is no PC in my studio room at the moment. All things time and money will cure. I'm hoping that I can filter whatever nonsense controller is causing this, and not affect the rest.
I didn't want to complicate the issue, but the Nord is also ignoring Program Change... only from the SD1, not from the TS12; and the TS12 sings MIDI with the SD1 like... um... they were designed to do that.
Recall that the TS12 and Nord are also very happy together, until the SD1 runs a sequence. |
