Greetings To All,

I re-birthed my old midi studio from about two decades ago.
I like writing all styles of music, but this time (since I hope I'm more mature and focused) I want to concentrate on what I call Synthphonic music.
The jist of it is, I write a lot of notes with as many synthesizers as I can,
using mostly the sounds in them that are supposed to emulate real instruments: Violin, Oboe, Trumpet, Flute, etc. Add to this some synth sounds, sine or square waves, etc, and some percussion. I always wanted to start a synth orchestra, and imagine fifteen or twenty actual synth players on a stage playing it all. I write pop songs also, and sing and play all the rock band instruments. I have a good friend who has a Pro Tools DAW I collaborate with, and he thinks I'm nuts hooking this stuff up, that I should buy a modern DAW, and I wish to sometime soon, but this is a pretty museum piece rig, and I already owned most of it in closets, and wanted to reacquire what I needed to make it all work again, and did.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

GEAR:
Atari 1040ST - Purchased recently on eBay WITH (This is the kicker)
Hybrid Arts SMPTE Track Software (Which they don't even make anymore)
Yamaha Promix 01 Mixers (2)
Roland Juno 2
Roland D-70
Roland U-220
Boss DR-5
Sonus 8 Channel Midi Splitter
Generic no-name External Hard Drive for the Atari
Alesis M1 Mk2 Monitors

That's about it for now, I have more synths I need to get serviced I wanna install, specifically a Korg DSS-1 which is really cool. One of my monitors needs a new tweeter, and I can't find it yet. You can see I have a small amp on one side for now.
I have a lot of stories about this gear, and if anyone is inquisitive, I'll tell them. Don't wanna be too long winded to open. I played keyboards in an
original 'new wave' band in the late seventies/early eighties, The Eternals.
We toured the New York/New Jersey area a lot. Our three claims to fame were we used to share nights with The Smithereens, we opened for Wall of Voodoo once at The Dirt Club, which was the closest we had to a home club, and we played CBGBs once.

I also have a Zoom R8 8 Track Digital Recorder which works nice, so I can do audio. Twenty years ago, I had (still have) a Fostex 1/2" 8 Track analog machine and I actually striped the eighth track with midi code from the Hybrid Arts software and synced up to do analog. Talk about cumbersome.
But it worked. I have a lot of MP3's now I made with the Zoom of my old songs, and some new stuff working. I have clips on Soundcloud, Soundclick and Youtube, and will be shoving them in anyone on here's ears who cares to hear sometime soon. Nice to meet y'all, and anyone in the New York area who's interested in synth playing, give me a holler sometime.

Welcome to the forum! Good to see some of the classic gear still being used. I started on C64 and then went C128 using Dr. T's KCS software. What a blast! I used to have two of the ProMix 01 - I liked them but had issues with channel preamp chips failing on them. I think I still have some NOS ones in my parts bins, lol.

Be sure to explore the different sub topics on the forum. A lot of good info and great people!
