Zybo - SSM2603 |
 |

Hi Guys,
Well I have my Zybo now and was wondering if anyone has some HDL for controlling the SSM2603.
Not that I am lazy of course but it would save me several weeks stumbling around, scratching my head and swearing.
Cheers

Hi Mr. Dog,
Not here unfortunately, but I do know that there is a BSP (Board Support Package) for it. If you haven't seen the downloads for the Zybo on the Digilent Zybo page, there are files there that may help you. I remember downloading some code there, but I think it's C or C++. I'm not sure how easy it is to use the CODEC without Linux. My attention got diverted to some dsPIC stuff, but I am still very interested in getting something happening with the Zybo.
As far as HDL goes, I've written a MIDI synthesizer for it that uses only the FPGA (PL) stuff and ignores the ARM cores, however, ultimately I want to be able to use both cores and the FPGA together. This particular project runs audio thru a Cirrus 24 bit stereo DAC plugged into one of the PMOD ports.
My idea is to use one ARM core as an effects processor using something like freeRTOS, the other core would run Linux (which should support the CODEC, there is a pre-compiled project that demonstrates the use of the CODEC using Linux) and have ports that control bits of the synth that is running in the FPGA. So it's rather rudimentary at this point.
I've poked around in the Xilinx forums, but I've not found much there.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but when I get back to it, I'll definitely post some stuff here. _________________ FPGA, dsPIC and Fatman Synth Stuff

Thanks for the reply.
I will have a look at the BSP to see what I can steal from there, otherwise it could be a little project for Christmas.
I will let you know how it goes.
Getting freeRTOS running on one (or both) of the cores is another project I have lined up. I was hoping to keep away from Linux but I can see myself changing that as I realise the difficulty of DIY on the PL!
Have a nice Christmas
