Stanley Jackson turned me on to his wonderful new synth called Trilobite. While he didn't know of or intend it to be like the G2, the work flow is quite similar with visual modular patches that are built and loaded into performances. While the module menu isn't as the developed, there are some things that take the model further such as more than 4 patches per performance, ability to source audio files, plugin versions, and patch evolving. As a G2 user, I was making patches within 20 mins of installation.

Trilobite is available in Beta from Darwin Arts now at http://www.darwinarts.com/8-2/products/

Trilobite Introduction

Trilobite 0.9.3 is a modular soft synth which lets you create unique sounds using Darwinian Evolution. This product is the successor to Cambrian Suite 0.9.2, and the evolutionary leap in features has been profound. Version 0.9.3 represents a “Cambrian Explosion” insofar as it makes the immense and necessary step of combining all of our previous separate evolutionary audio tools into one, with many other new features besides:

Available for Macintosh OSX as well as Microsoft Windows with Audio Units and VST plugin versions available for their respective platforms.

Did you press the play button? Each patch has a play button to start / stop it.

Yep.

The problem was that I thought the app was using channels 1 & 2 of my interface (main monitors), but really it was using the system sound driver on the Mac that was not routed to my main monitors but was routed to a second set that were not turned on!

I think they are going to change it so it doesn't use the system sound driver and uses full Core Audio.
