Good SoundFX hardware modules? Subject description: good and cheap? hahahah. |

Hi guys.
Sometimes I use computers from 80s / early 90s (Atari, Amiga, Spectrum) to make a very real Berlin-school / ambient.
It sounds like this: https://youtu.be/sjNg_k1PuXw
I use simply everything I can, to influence the original sound. Filters / phasers / choruses / flangers / delays / echoes / reverbs / equalizers / compressors / limiters. You name it.
But they're usually software pieces.
And actually for quite some time we're thinking of trying to make such music 'live', with 8bit computers.
I mean - something like this concert https://youtu.be/ZUHiSNf6xC8 but with several Atari XL/XE computers instead of ZX Spectrum.
And electronic music instead of chiptune.
Plus real drums of course.
And You know - we'd get some good sound-effects, to make some cool sound and we'd try to synchronize about 4 Atari machines or so.
What I would like to get , is 4 or 5 FX modules, each module for each Atari XL. And it would be cool to have some regular stuff like knobs with filters, and whatever - phasers, flangers and so on. And delay/reverb, possibly.
I suspect, as for the filters themselves, maybe Korg Monotron might do the trick (it has some "IN" port) but their construction is fragile, like toys for babies, so the knobs get destroyed after a year or so.
Hence, I was thinking about some dedicated pieces of hardware.
To combine it with the Atari and have "analogue synthesizer without a synthesizer" sound.
I would be very grateful if You guys could save my arse and suggest some machine. I know nothing about the subject-matter, I know only 8bit and 16bit computers, hehe.
Best regards,
Y _________________ ________________________________________

A used Digitech Studio Quad might be a good option. They're cheap but still really capable. For about $100 you get 4 channels of multi-effects. Not much on the knobs, though.
I liked the Arion guitar effects pedals for live use (especially the octave, flanger, and phaser). They're cheap, but still sound good. |

Ah, I see; thank You very much.
I will check out the stuff, on YouTube and so on.
Well, I'm starting to think that the device I described does not actually exist, hahah. _________________ ________________________________________

Aha, so after all seems like the another choice would be to get something from "KORG Pandora PX-??" series. Hmmm. OK. _________________ ________________________________________

I have a Pandora PX3 I use occasionally for practicing guitar. It sounds nice, but is not very tweakable and probably wouldn't be very good for live use.
The Kaoss Pad series (especially the 4-channel Kaoss Pad Quad) is another great option that is better suited to live play. The KP-1 does less, but can be had pretty cheap second hand.
Check out some Kaoss Pad videos on YouTube, you may find some inspiration. |

Well, what can I say - seems like this is it. More/less. (I'm old, so I didn't expect a Christmas tree but seems like it does the trick).
Thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ ________________________________________

Have you looked at the Lunetta sub-forum? Lots of small circuits for modding mainly digital sounds. |

Ah, some self-made stuff. Yes, it crossed my mind too, while research.
Well, I will check it out, thank You! _________________ ________________________________________
