Isao Tomita passed a way

Isao Tomita died 5th of may in Hospital

Isao Tomita, composer and synthesizer artist, died May 5, 2016 of chronic cardiac failure at 2:51 p.m. at Tokyo Metropolitan Hiroo Hospital. He collapsed around noon in his home and was taken to the hospital, where he passed away with family at his bedside.
Private funeral ceremonies attended only by family took place on May 7th and 8th.
We announce this news with great sadness.

If I had a record player that worked, I'd play my pink coral colored Bermuda Triangle LP to honor his memory. Yes, some of his music was corny, but I really enjoyed much of the other stuff I heard. I think he was definitely one of the early great broad-based popularizers of multi-track synth recordings.

84 is not a bad innings, though. I'll have to listen to his rendition of The Planets later today.

Sad Wow. This is sad news. Another great musician and synthesist is now gone.

I was amazed when I first heard Tomita’s synth music, his rendition of Holst’s “The Planets” back in the 70’s. And it is still a joy to listen to this and some of his other works that I have picked up over the years.

Tomita, thanks for all the wonderful music. R.I.P.

He meaned a lot for me because.......many musicians(me included) have a classical education, my father grabbed all the time my / his albums because of that amazing stereo. I never played from him in one of my shows, now accidentally I have him in a radioshow from 1978 !
