Eric's review of the event... |

Here's what Eric reported on the Analogue Heaven list.
I just returned from Electro-Music 2005 in Philadelphia, PA
(www.electro-music.com). I was there for 2 of the 3 days. It is still
going on as I type, you might be able to catch some of the streaming audio
from the event until midnight EDT today.
The event was well organized and everyone had a great time. I certainly
enjoyed it, heard a lot of new music, and learned a lot! I didn't take
nearly enough pictures but I've put what I have up on the web at:
http://www.alt-mode.com/EM2005/
Highlights for me:
- Lev the Theremin Playing Robot
- Kip Rosser - Jazz Theremin and some useful playing tips
- Amy X Neuburg - Great performance using her voice and looping
- Orbital Decay performance - very spacey with very smooth transitions
- An announcement from Clavia of a new version of the Nord Modular software
that will have Patch Mutation using some artificial life algorithms (select
a patch for mutation or select two patches and "mate" them to create new
patches)
- Seminars on physical modeling and "noodles" all based off the Nord G2
Modular
- Playing around on Howard's Moog Modular in the food room while waiting for
meals
I think this will become one of the must-attend events in the east coast
electronic music scene in the years to come. Howard and Greg did a
tremendous job organizing everything and it came off very well, especially
for the first year of the event.
Eric
Thanks, Eric. One of the things I enjoyed most was your beautiful synthesizers hands-on display upstairs. The Buchla gear gives me warm fuzzies.
electro-music 2005 wasn't a synth meeting, but it was great to have a synth meeting integrated into a conference and the performances. _________________ --Howard
