There is a free PDF (or other format) copy of Digital Harmony – On the Complementarity of Music and Visual Art [1980] via this article, or directly as a PDF here. I never read it. It looks pretty good, also a product of its times, but nevertheless! Cool

Thanks, Jez. My early summer reading was the entire Sherlock Holmes collection in the original type/format/illustrations. I will have to make time for this one during late summer. I sampled it, and I like what it has to say about arbitrary randomness in composition. I do notice that the visuals are very symmetric, a property that I try to break tastefully. But, that's just my aesthetic. It does look like it will be a good read.

I see it mentions John Whitney, I'm a fan of his stuff, and I do like a bit of symmetry Smile
