Last week I built a low table for some of my pepper plants. I was already placing them on flowerpots to raise them a bit
so they get more sun, but I ran out of pots so this seem to be a good solution for it. It also makes the space underneath
useful to store some things and I incorporated some supports so I can place small pots between the legs. I only came up
with this after drilling the holes in the legs else I would have placed them a bit heigher as now the pots are covering them
a bit. It's not really noticable though.

Datura's (stramonium) are flowering off and on so I have been taking some photos. The camera seems to have a bit
of a problem with the flowers being so white though. They bloom for about a day/night (and smell great!). After that the
flower drops off and a thornapple will grow. But it will also make two new shoots at the same spot which will produce
two flowers, then four etc.

You guys work too hard. My cat garden was easy. I just sowed some catnip seed (left side of the greenery) and planted an ornamental tall grass (right side of the greenery). You can't see either because of the other plants.
Atop the pole is a platform bird feeder with a tube feeder hanging off the left side. Most of the plants in the garden were planted by sloppy birds scattering seed from these feeders: sunflowers, millet, nyjer, etc.
There are also a few indigenous volunteers in the garden, like dandelions, ragweed, wood sorrel, grasses, giant hogweed... (OK, maybe not giant hogweed.)
Notice that although my "cultivated wild garden" is meant for the entertainment of my cats, those ungrateful twits are seen mocking me by laying in the mulch far to either side of the garden.
Actually, the cats spend lots of time in the garden, sleeping in the shade or hiding and watching the birds. I occasionally thin the growth so that the birds can see that there are cats eyeing them. It's only sporting, you know.

I have three cats now and they all ignore the catnip completely.
However, bags of catnip contain blossom tops, which, apparently, are the good parts.
Last year I planted too late and there were no blossoms. But the plant is perennial and actually stayed green through a Chicago-latitude winter. The catnip is now covered with blossom tops. Once the tops reach maturity I expect my cats to lay around the garden getting high. _________________ AEJOTZ is pronounced "A-Jotz"

haven't posted any photos in a while (even though I made some) so here as an update. It is getting pretty green
and I will try to make an overview shot. Aphids seem to love it which I am not so happy with . They don't seem
to do a lot of actual damage to the plants though except covering them with stickey honeydew. I do have some
insecticide which is really effective but I rather not use it as it is also deadly for other insects and I did spot some
ladybugs having a nice meal. Anyway here are some photos.

Phobos' beautiful photos remind me of the year I planted several kinds of peppers in a half-barrel. They all did so well that I was inundated with peppers at the end of the season.
Mid-season I discovered that squirrels think cherry peppers are green tomatoes. They always dropped them halfway to the tree. Before long they left my peppers and tomatoes alone.
I also had long and regular cayennes. The tips of the long cayennes were the best thing in the world to cook with good beef strips and chopped onion.
I had 2 or 3 other kinds of peppers but I forget which kinds.
Anyway, at the end of the season I had several pounds of peppers to harvest. I decided to make a kind of pepper relish by chopping them all up and refrigerating them in a mild vinegar pickle. It turned out great. I used it in everything and it didn't last the winter.
Despite warnings I chopped them all up with bare hands. I figured I handled and used peppers so often that I didn't need to heed the warning. Of course, I had never chopped up several pounds of peppers before.
After making the relish I washed my hands thoroughly, got a beer, and sat down. My hands began to feel very warm. I then scrubbed my hands with a citrus hand cleaner and soaped them up again. Now my hands were hot and getting hotter. Before long I was running around the house with my hands held in front of me and a silent scream on my face. I learned my lesson. _________________ AEJOTZ is pronounced "A-Jotz"

You're going to have to start a cooking thread for those peppers, Phobos.
heh, I am not much of a cook and usually I don't get a lot of peppers of those plants.
The Purple Tigers seem to producing a lot though, well at least for what I am used to.
The ghosy peppers are also producing a lot of flowers at the moment but no peppers yet.
Most of them will probably end up with some noodles or on a pizza. (just tried a 'little elf'
pepper to which my body responded with hicc-ups)

Another photo of them for you as there are some more flowers now, it's nice to have
some more colors between all that green.
@AEJOTZ I have never cut a whole lot of peppers but I learned to be careful after
cutting some hot ones. (don't rub your eyes,.really, just don't)
I got a set of small lenses including a fisheye lens, so I made some photos with it to give
a bit of an oveview. It's not the best quality but might give a better idea of how it looks.

Looks like the cavalry has arrived in the form of parasitic wasps to help me with the aphid problem.
I only found out about the existance of those earlier this year and it is a reason why I don't want
to use insecticide. It's actually pretty gruesome but hey that's nature for ya.

Morning Glory flowers usually open up early in the morning, (hence the name morning glory) but I think these
milky ways might be a bit confused with the timezone as I took these photos at about 1:30 am. I don't mind them
flowering at this time and I have actually found a night-blooming variety called 'moonflower' (Ipomoea alba) which
I am thinking of growing next year.

I discovered a bunch of ladybug larvae patrolling my plants. Together with the wasps and maybe something
else they've been doing a pretty good job as I can hardly find any of those green aphids anymore. I did however
notice that my Nasturtium is covered in black aphids and the larvae don't seem to show much interest in those.
I guess the green ones are a bit juicier.

Lupine is flowering (it's supposed to be blue/white but pink is nice too) and Nicandra physalodes also has some flowers.
And a photo of some tomatoes (banana legs).
(I like how the photos of the lupine came out as they are almost identical but
due to the change in focus they have a different atmosphere)

Did you grow those from seed ?
Some 'Milky Way' Morning Glory madness. it's probably putting out hundreds of flowers (not at the same time).
The most are on the other side of the plant though. That's another downside of a balcony, plants tend to grow
outwards with the flowers facing away from me. I also found a pink one so those are starting to flower too.
No signs yet of the 'Heavenly Blue' or 'Flying Saucers'.
Solanum dulcamara is also growing nicely and showing why it is called a climbing nightshade. I wonder
if it will produce flowers this year.
JalapeƱos are producing some peppers and I am also getting some ghost peppers this year
