Yeh!! I've built the FEITW circuit many times now. Rene should get nominated for a noble prize, this is a fantastically great sounding ADSR!!! _________________ Visit my AUDIODIWHY blog and website |

Eurorack copy of the Buchla 258 Dual Oscillator. Very easy to get a good sound out of this.
This particular PCB set uses the THAT340 transistor array, working off Mark Verbos' annotated schematic. I've got a set of PCBs that use BC8x7DS matched pairs instead (cheaper), and will verify them in a few days. |

Arpad Benares' touch controller from Synapse Magazine. This was a pseudonym for Serge, and it's a very responsive touch controller indeed!
Provided, of course, that I don't screw up. I had three resistors in the small oscillator going to ground, and not -12V, and I ran out of 22M resistors (hence the two in parallel on the back. I also had the ICs far too close to the header pins, and had to actually slide them forward as much as the sockets would let me. To do this, I had to desolder the power smoothing caps and angle them forward a bit. |

Voiced/Unvoiced Detector, built from the Doepfer module's schematics. Originally did this for someone in 2017, finally got around to building one for myself.
I think the wires for the pots was why I put it off. I can do crimped connectors... they're just a fiddly pain in the posterior to actually do, for me. |

I showed that one before, but now it got a frontpanel. Design wise it is still not finished. At first sight I was really satisfied with the edges, but then I decided to try out rounded edges on other boards and I liked it more. So I will make another run of pcbs and panels I guess

Great work again Alan P. If you have any PCBs left over and want to sell 'em please PM me. Thanks _________________ Visit my AUDIODIWHY blog and website |

Wow, that's a neat little instrument!
The leftmost bottom panel (labelled "computer") is a non-standard (USB-)MIDI unit, isn't it. Where did you get that from?
Cheers and a lot of fun! _________________ Built: MFOS SLMS plus, SL Ultimate & Expander, 10 step seq; SLMS MkII; PAiA FatMan, Mutable-Instruments Shruthi-1; Jasper Wasp Clone

Drum sequencer, first 4 channels pure digital, the next 4 are outputs of a quad 16bit DAC.
Module is powered by a bluepill STM32F103.

For the digital outputs I just use a 74LS08, works perfectly.
For the last 4 channels I use a quad DAC which accepts 3.3 volt digital signal, and puts out 0 to 5 volt. The rest of the components like the display etc. are 3.3 volt compatible.
At the moment I’m working on the software, when that works I will open a thread with schematics and some explanation how things work.
For this project I use the Arduino IDE.
I just realise that I just have outputs and no inputs... guess I have to make a secondary panel with trigger in and outputs...😱 _________________ my synth |

oh interesting, I just checked the datasheet for the 74LS08 and it says the mininum high voltage level is 2V. yeah that'll work, cool
Did you get the arduino IDE working with USB ? I did manage to upload a sketch through FTDI but haven't been able to load an arduino bootloader on it.
and yeah, I did notice the lack of inputs, and the fancy goldplated connectors _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

Thanks.
I have one those too but since I wasn't 100% sure if it would work and didn't want to risk having to wait another month or so
I also ordered one of those FTDI boards right away, which I believe was only $0,75. But good to know that one works too.
Yeah the blue pill boards are damn cheap and with those specs a nano doesn't even come close but I do like the convenience
of only needing a USB cable and not having to mess around with different voltages and/or jumper settings.
One more question before I derail this thread too much; why the red buttons in those places, was that purely an aesthetic choice ? _________________ "My perf, it's full of holes!"

I plan to have midi implemented as well, and the buttons can serve as a keyboard input (could have used black caps instead of the red ones )
And the “fancy” gold plated connectors are the same price as the metal ones and are there to discriminate between triggers and analog outputs. _________________ my synth |

ah that makes sense. I was looking at it as a drum controller and it made more sense to me to use them for steps 1,5,9,13.
It does remind me of a MIDI controller I made in 2013 but never completely finished and I don't think I ever posted any photos before.
It is functional though and I used it to create some tracks which you can find here.
