There is a bunch of shows for finding great, wonderful, super, hyper, next star singers. Not that I follow those shows or ever hear about the winners of them. But, where is the "Next Top Composer" show? Or a "Instrumentalists Have Talent" program? Well, just wondering. Would you be interested in such a show? A kind of competition for composers or instrument talents or actually to find new "stars"? Or do you think they would only server the same popular music styles as other shows? Leave a comment with syndae's channels. Or don't and simply relish the non-tv talents providing such great music and which you will always find via syndae. And there is a bunch of them on this edition, brand new stuff and great old treats by Wellenfeld (The Journey of Voyager 1), Substan (Requiem for a Neural Network), All Notes Off (Rise and Decay), Optionica (Biomechanics), Organic Prizmo (Eighth Listen), Dlaivison (Aeon), F.D. Project (Time to Remember), TK (Vertigo), Peru (Forlian).

Quietness in my job? No traffic on the roads? No. Just the need for some serenity has driven me to relish some cool ambient music and share it with you on tonight's edition. It's this time again, and it's always a great idea to give one's mind a rest from the outer world and contemplate, fetch up with all the thoughts wandering in one's mind. And maybe create some new and unexpected ideas. Maybe the sounds and noises to be heard can tickle your neurons to make new connections or revive some long forgotten ones. Have a wonderful and peaceful time with tracks by Time Being (An Ocean Of Time), Seramind (Embedsave), Sam Rosenthal & Projekt Artists (Tim, where are you now?), A.D.S.R. (UNO), Janne Hanhisuanto (Icescapes), Time Away (Gehenna), Swartz (Nighttide), Alnocys (Alnocys 2).

Yes, I know. Everyone's jumping on the Halloween train these days. Well, so will I. Because there is such a great dedicated compilation by Legacy of Thought, I had to pick this up. And also I found more tracks, which are more or less suitable for this occasion. It's not one genre alone tonight, but very much some rather dark sides of electronic music paired with ambient segments. So, best to put your masks (or rather headphones) on and take some deep listening time to the excellent and frightening tracks by Stefan Erbe (Breathe), Myth and Ivan Black (Gehenna), Ombra Obscvra (La Nit Eterna), Otarion (Prayer from the Deep), Kliment (Eastern Depths IV), Corticem (Planetarium), Rïcïnn (Nereïd), RoboKnob (Eastern Depths IV), Dan Terminus (Last Call For All Passengers).

Scores for scary times on

Thinking about tonight's edition, I thought about the term chill out and where it comes from. I could think of some situation, where you are getting hot because of anger or being uptight about something. Then you need to chill out, i.e. cool down. But I could not find any evidence to that origin. The general meaning though is to calm down and relax. And it's quite a young phrase, some claim it's from the 1970s, others put it to the 1980s. Well, if you know more about the origin of "chill out", let me know in the comments on social media or send me a message or mail. What I found interesting though and did not know before, to chill out also means to spend time with your friends. And that's perfectly fitting for syndae, spending time with all of you to listen to fantastic music by Eleon feat. Jeff Pearce (Chillscapes Vol. 1), Der Waldläufer (Daolai), Stefan Erbe (Breathe), Wellenfeld (The Journey of Voyager 1), Ivan Black (The Skirmish), D-Echo Project (Flavour), Rose (Quarantine in Warm), moonbooter (Beyond the Neon Lights), Rombreaker (Summer Pain), Toffo (The Matter of Life), In Vitro (Modulandi).

May the chill be with us on

It was a dark night in the 1970s, when some mysterious guy opened up a music studio in a Berlin school to enable freaky drug addicts to play music using instruments powered by electricity ... Nah, it wasn't. But would make a nice story about the origins of this style of music, nowadays often known (or confused) with sequencer driven electronic music. Berlin School, one of the earliest main sources for the then famous and new electronic music scene, actually has its roots in Berlin. We all know its pioneers like Klaus Schulze, Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke, Günter Schickert, Manuel Göttsching, Dieter Moebius, Michael Rother, ... Well, and many more. It was originally an exploration of these new kind of instruments and what one could accomplish using them for sound creation. There definitely are some variations on Berlin School, some when reviving the old 70s style in the early 90s and bringing it up to date with new developments in technology and musical experience. And, yet again, younger and current artists are picking up the scents and bring it back to modern life. Now, this is not meant as a history podcast, but to relish the music. Enjoy the modern way of Berlin-ish school music with tracks by Klangzaun, Mythos (Berliner Schule Sequencing), Däcker (Pareidolia), Cloudwalk (Realm of Jupiter), Nations of the Reverbs (Fractures), Steve Roach (Tomorrow).

Yay, it's Black Friday! So what could I give you for this money saving day? Hey, I give a 50% rebate on this episode. So you will get one hour of fantastic music with only half as many talkovers than usual for free. Isn't that something? Oh, well. Are you on shopping tour today? Hunting the best sales deal out there? So, I was curious, where the phrase came from. It seems rather mundane to refer to the massive crowd that built up on the day after Thanksgiving, opening the Christmas shopping season. No interesting story in there, really. What is interesting though, and actually exciting, is the excellent music you will find on this edition. So put on your headphones or turn up your amplifier for great sounds provided by Time Traveler (Sky Falter), Ron Boots & Synth.nl (BorkHavn), Stefan Erbe (Breathe), Primal Scapes (Entertain), Curious Inversions (Requiem for a Neural Network), and Christopher J. Wray (Berlin).

From day one on, Bernd Scholl aka moonbooter was present on syndae. By that time, nobody could imagine how long this podcast would last. And now its edition 550, and we still have thes how, and we still have Bernd as regular guest. In tonight's special edition, we will talk about his brand new album, about his label, the situation for him and artists in general in these demanding times and more. And of course, you will get fantastic music in tracks by moonbooter (Beyond the Neon Lights), Wellenfeld (The Journey of Voyager 1), Faber (Floating Waves), Harald Nies (The Flow of Energy), and Frank Duval (If I Could Fly Away).

Sometimes a view is all it needs to make one stop and relish the world around us. Especially, if it is a view of the extraordinarity of nature, may it be a landscape, impressive rocks, or a wild field work well for me. I think it is always worthwhile to sometimes stop and simply take everything in. Well, old and modern architecture works for me, too. Anything, which pleases my eyes and gives me wonders. And the same holds true for sounds. I simply love impressive soundscapes, may it be of quiet and delicate matter or powerful melodic rocks and aural paintings. What about you? What makes you hold your breath and relish your environment? I think, tonight's edition will give you some space to do so. Relaxing but mind tickling chill out and related compositions are ahead of you listeners. Enjoy outstanding music by Der Waldläufer (Iris), Level Pi (Elektronische Philosophie), Majestica (Chillscapes Vol. 1 / Compilation), Ron Boots & Synth.nl (BorkHavn), Time Traveler (Sky Falter), Evan Fraser & Vir McCoy (Guardians), Rombreaker (未発表 2020), Phaeleh (From the Vaults: Vol 2), Brückner & Everling (Reiseziel Mond), Orchid-Star (Faster Reimagined).

It is done. Another year is gone. A strange and memorable year, for sure. Well, no immediate change to be expected with the simple fact of us raising the number to 2021. But we are looking positive and hopeful to the coming time. Aren't we always? Of course, there is hope to be able to have music events again in the near (or somewhat near) future. And fear not, there will be great music to be heard at least on all the fine podcasts and radio shows out there, for example with the orgy of great tunes you will get tonight on this brand new edition number one for 2021. As a change of heart, it will be a bit more energetic than planned. A worthy start into the coming 365 unwritten days of the year. Put on your headphones and up the volume for tracks by Stan Dart (Basilica), Roberto Sass (The Sentinel), Tony Byrne (The Device), Harald Nies (The Flow of Energy), Organic Prizmo & Anitta (Ninth Listen), Zinkl (Tanzmusik für Roboter), 4T Thieves (Saciar), Stefan Erbe (Selectronisch Vol. 1 & 2), Erätarkastaja (Balance of The Butterfly).

It is so common to wish anybody luck for a new year. Maybe other things as well, like happiness, but luck is the most common I think. But what is luck? Is there such a thing as luck? Or is it just a sequence of events and circumstances that presents one as a positive outcome? I am sure there are plenty philosophical books on this topic, and maybe some biology books as well explaining what hormones make a human experience to have luck. Is feeling lucky a consequence of having luck? If so, we have a lot of luck because of the many great artists around composing such beautiful electronic music as to be heard on tonight's edition. Have a lucky hour with tracks by Elsehow (Can Somebody Live the Same Day Twice?), Andy Pickford (Alignment), Curious Inversions (Saciar), Primal Scapes & Record of Tides (Revenant Euclids), Eisenlager (all|is|bright_2020), Michael Brückner & Detlev Everling (Reiseziel Mond), René van der Wouden (Astromen).

Is this already the third edition into 2021? Oh yes, it is. Amazing how times passs by. And the start of the year already had some crazy happenings. The past week was very busy at work for me, and it was very easy to decide upon this edition to feature ambient music to peace out. With such a show, I always try to not disturb its serenity with me talking, but this ain't become a mixtape. So I hope you don't mind me interrupting you from time to time with some information about the artist and album. If you want the full relaxation afterwards, please go for the artists' and labels' pages to get hold of their music for your own playlists. Amazing tracks await you tonight given by Bodhi (Deep Dream), jarguna / Uzbazur (Sublimation), Christel Veraart (Pleiades), City of Dawn feat. Guadalupe Duque (Nocturne), Descrai (Horizon Palace), Fringo Chills (...cooled).

I'd say this week was full of good vibes. How did you experience the past days? It reads and looks like greater parts of the world took a deep breathe. I'm not going into political stuff, it's just the feeling I got when reading news and watching talk show videos. Well, let me know in the comments. On the other hand, with tonight's edition we have great new music that follows the inheritance of the 70s and 80s of the past century. Call it Berlin School or Krautrock or Ambient. It simply is hypnotic and mesmerizing music to be heard with pleasure. Join me for one hour with amazing tracks by Craig Padilla & Marvin Allen (Strange Gravity), Spyra (Schallplatte 23), Peter Mergener (Mare Nostrum), Obukhovaudio (Moograce 2), Erik Wøllo (Recurrence), Alba Ecstasy (Reaching for the Stars), Colin Rayment (Igneous), René van der Wouden (Return to the Stargaze).

Do you watch Youtube? I mean, I recently find myself spending quite some time watching channels on the platform providing various kinds of infotainment. Like the channel by Guy Michelmore, who teaches composition and does live composing. Or the LockPickingLawyer, who shows how he picks locks and debunks them being unpickable. Or the German channel on tv series and films by Ren Kühn. Or some science channels explaining the complex world of how science works and its findings. Or the German equivalent to Writing Excuses named "Schreibdilettanten" (writing jacklegs). Or, recently, the intros to American late shows by Fallon, Kimmel and Colbert. So, well, do you watch Youtube as well? Or is that old fashion? Let me know about the channels you cannot stop visiting in the comments. Oh, besides channels I do watch music videos, too. Of course, mainly electronic and ambient music. Many artists and labels I have on the show do have Youtube channels. Like several from this edition. But lets focus on tonight's fabulous tracks by Progeny -1 & Roberto Sass (Stranded), Stefan Erbe (Selectronisch Vol. 3), Tonal Assembly (Schallplatte 23), Closeyoureyes (10 Years Abstrakt Reflections), Kellerkind Berlin (Musikkonstruktionen), jCoke (Synthony I), Substan (DigiTales III), Cadenced Haven ft. Gert Emmens (Peregrination), Uriel (Culture Shift), Andreas Volllenweider (Cosmopoly).

The downside of trying something new or unusual is that you do not know about the outcome. Does it please you? Does it anger you? Well, everyone is different in that. Some love new things and simply enjoy the change, some... and maybe I am one of them in most situations... rather refrain and stick with what they know. This also applies to listening to music. If there is a kind of music that makes you happy, you definitely want to have more of it, do you not? Well, it may depend on your mood, though, what kind of music comforts you. But at least in that matter I am in for risk and like trying new things. Of course, I have to anyway, listening into all the submissions for podplay, some of which are cool, some are interesting, others don't fit at all. As I tend to set a theme for each show, some music does not make it to a regular edition. Hence, for tonight, I picked tracks I think are very interesting but do not fit to the common kind of styles I have on. Hopefully, you will enjoy them, too. Here comes cool stuff by Dave Bessell & Parallel Worlds (Phosphenes), Massimo Discepoli (Last year, the next day), Green Isac Orchestra (Green Isac Orchestra), electric mud (Quiet Days On Earth), Cool Spring (Are We There Yet?), Anantakara (Newt [At Whose Feet is Eternity]), Peaceone [Optionica reconstruction] (Outcrop), Metalogue (10 Years Abstrakt Reflections), Revbjelde (Fukko The Clown), Bernhard Wöstheinrich (Eyes in the Big City).

Boy, what a busy week. So I had to clear snow twice this week. And on Sunday it had a thick frozen layer below the fresh snow on top. Had to hack through to get the sidewalk free. Of course, afterwards I was rewarded with exhaustion and some muscle pain next day. Imagine sitting at home for a year and suddenly having to move snow. Oh, well, sitting home is the new normal these days, no surprise there. Unfortunately, the weather was sneaky and covered my tracks with more snow the next days. Bad boy. Bad boy! Well. It's still in the minus so that white stuff will not go away for a while. No wonders I am longing for some relaxation, and here we go with tonight's tracks. Chill out music to relish the cold weather, but home with the heaters on and soothing on the couch. Please, join me -regarding the listen- with wonderful tracks by Suduaya (Starseeds), Nicholas Gunn (Sound Condition), Dusk Horizon (Stranded), Substan (DigiTales III), Ioon Cosmic Downtempo & Wasisunqu (Balance of The Butterfly), Thomas Park (Midnightradio Compilation 101), Faber (Floating Waves), CIALYN (In from the cold), Stellardrone (Between The Rings).

No time to chill. This was a beating week work wise, and tonight's edition will simply reflect that. I am still energized, so why stop now? There is a weekend up to chill and rest. Sometimes, I simply need some strong soundwaves beating me up and treat my body like a resonator. Ah, well, doesn't make sense, does it? When do you need some louder and harder music? Let me know in the comments. And while thinking about it, why don't you simply join in for a powerful ride with fantastic tracks by Andy Morello & Duscio (Electricults), Information Ghetto (Magnetic Position), Aleckat (Dusty Remixes), Multi Tul (Digital Family Vol.9), Nattefrost (Secrets of the Universe), Basscadet (Saciar), Cairo Braga & Mildmilk (The Library is Open, Vol. 2), Night Parrot (Midnightradio Compilation 101), Mabu and Felix von Montfort (Midnightradio Compilation 102).

There are no events to go to these days. One of the things, many of us are missing dearly. As a quantum of solace one finds online events from time to time. Which is nice, but no real replacement for meeting up with friends in sound. Oh, I do enjoy such sessions, as they give at least a little hope. And the music always is great, too. What I did not see, yet, is an event like coming up on March 26th to 28th with the SynthFest. A three day online event with artists from all over the world. Well, barely possible as live event at an offline event (okay, "offline" sounds a bit off...) here you will be able to listen to some dozen artists playing live. And it's free as well, as far as I can see. What is stopping you? I hope nothing. Well, if you cannot wait that long, join me for an hour of fantastic music tonight with maxxess (Reactivate), Ivan Black (Puzzle), René van der Wouden (A Night at the Manor), Sylvain Carel (Atlantide), and Steve Roach (Into the Majestic).

Does one have a reason for a serene hour? Well, I don't. And there is none. Except, maybe, that I need more sleep. But ambient music not necessarily means to fall asleep listening. On the contrary, some ambient tracks are such beauties and have so wonderful details that you tend to listen more closely. Even better, if on the second and third listen you spot more details and pieces of wonder in a track. It's like watching a painting where you find those little interesting strokes the longer you look. And that's what makes the tracks of this edition special as well. Simply jump to your favorite spot to relax and listen in to music by Der Waldläufer (Aurora), Nicholas Gunn (Sound Condition), Time Away (Age of Ice), Biome Tides (Essence), jarguna (A Peaceful Granular Day), Parallel Worlds (MOA1202), Daniel Blomqvist (The Comfort of Stars), Volker Lankow (Am Tiefen See), TaboTago (Live at Zionskirche Berlin).

The hot topic of the past week obviously has been some interview by an American host with British folks. I only got this from some late shows, where they picked some funny and scandalous moments of it. Including a count of the "what"s of the host. And, of course, they showed some of the (unbelievable) reactions from other media. It made me wonder, why people are so interested in scandals of other people. On the other hand, this shows how colourful life and people's minds are. Which also shows in musical taste, where you can barely count the number of styles out there, and each of those has a fandom. So, by listening to syndae, you do out yourself for being a fan of ambient and electronic music. Luckily, the music varies in style quite often, so you can get a decent range of aural colours. Like with tonight's edition, which does not stick to one style only with contributions by Blackmore's Night (Nature's Light), maxxess (Reactivate), Survey Channel (Silent Graphs), FM.tronica and Stockmans & Fiesel (Mars Perseverance), niteffect (take your pills), Information Ghetto (Magnetic Position), Mitoma & Weldroid (MXW Magnetic), Ivan Black (Puzzle), Poolz (Cause, if You Could), Stefan Erbe (Serbenity).

Take it easy, my dear friends in sound. Anything noteworthy this week? Nothing really exciting happening around my place recently. Only the usual crazy stuff on the news all week long. But this is not the place to discuss politics. Not that I am unpolitical, neither am I very political. But this is the place for fun and joy, to relish beautiful scapes and rhythms. Nearly a place for well-being, if you like. And tonight's show celebrates it with wonderful and easy going tracks by Jonny Lipford (Balance), Oliva (Wonder World), Lisa Hilton (More Than Another Day), Brian Fechino (Of the Light), Samir Bodhi (Stairway to Nirvana), Jon Durant (Soul of a River), Eric Bikales (Mandala), Eagle (Synth. Music) (The Dark Side of the Sun), Lisa Bella Donna (The World She Wanted).

Only half a year later of the birth of syndae, the Schallwelle award saw its light, which is the German price on electronic music of the kind you can listen to on syndae. While it is a small event, it still is much appreciated by artists, who are celebrated for their achievements of the passed year. Since 2020 was the year of the pandemic, many concerts were cancelled and some took place virtual. But still, lots of musicians put their heart and work into new music to delight each of us with fresh sounds. Fittingly, and as we are still in the pandemic, the award ceremonies for the Schallwelle were presented online this year. And it is a really nice ceremony with concerts in between and it is free to watch, too. You will find a link below in the details section. So what's that to do with syndae? Well, tonight you will get to listen to music from the winners of the awards, who are Michael Rother (Dreaming), Stefan Erbe (Nachtlichter), Thorsten Quaeschning (Autokino Session), moogie183, Däcker (Pareidolia).

The winners show up at

Japan is a very interesting country with a long history in culture and tradition. One may sometimes wonder how trends are born, but they are usually quite unique to the rest of the world. One of their traditions is about how they worshipped gods. As a special feature tonight, you will get a six-pack of tracks from the new Legacy of Thought compilation Seven Lucky Gods, which is on a special group of Japanese gods: the Seven Lucky ones. Well, when compiling music for the remainder of the show, it really became an easter special edition with albums all but one released right today on April 2nd. Hence, enjoy brand new music by Ambient Indigo, Wane of Summer, Roberto Sass, XaVioN, Talking to Ghosts, and Time Away (Seven Lucky Gods), Sequential Dreams (Chrysalis), Stan Dart (Basilica), Holeg Spies & Jaia ft. Thierry Gotti (Rain), Steve Roach & Serena Gabriel (Temple of the Melting Dawn).

What a crazy week. After some fun with Seven Lucky Gods (and very nice feedback on the way), snowfall took us over easter and beyond. Fortunately, too warm for the flakes to stay, and we had a alternating mix with sunbeams over here at my place. Maybe a prolonged April joke? Who knows. Well, after such a strange and eventful week, I decided to unwrap my ambient box and pick some rather calm and less to no beat tracks for tonight. Not to a full success, but with amazing music, I can tell you. Also, over the weekend I checked out the video/radio show Some Good Vibes, which had some really inspiring tracks by artists I did not know before. Some of them on tonight's edition, some will definitely appear in later shows. Have fun joining me for some ambient to chill music by Vanyashi (Existence), Blue Is Nine (I Met a Traveler), Rudy Adrian (As Dusk Becomes Night), XaVioN & Anna B May (Afterlife), Carl Lord (Stillness), David Helpling (As the World Falls Away), drone-in-the-woods and Lethave Plank (Mars Perseverance), Sunplus (Clear Muted Sine Recovery), Wolfproject and Harald Nies (Midnight Radio Compilation 103).
