Op-Amp Campout, CMOS Boss / Safari : Component Kits for Sale Subject description: A few different collections of Op-Amp / CMOS Components - lovingly compiled and packaged for you! |

Greetings fellow DIY friends.
I took the deep dive into synthdiy a couple years ago, with many thanks to the community here for the invaluable knowledge you've provided. As a result of my obsessive pursuits, I've accumulated some surplus inventory. I decided to compile said surplus into a few different collections that reflect those that I wished I could purchase when I was starting out.
The first collection is called 'Op-Amp Campout' -
It contains 32 different op-amp types - a total of 52 pieces (there are multiples of the more popular / common op-amps used in synthdiy circuits). I've attached an image with the full inventory below. I also created a cute little painting that depicts some of these op-amps and their activities at the campout.
In addition to that, I'm offering a couple collections of CMOS chips.
* Personally, my synthdiy journey began with various 'Lunetta' circuits - I'm sure many of you are familiar. Fun little noise makers and sequencer bits using CD40106 / CD4093 / CD4069 / CD4051 / 4040 etc. In fact, I became a little bit obsessed. I began to seek out increasingly rare/obscure CMOS chips - and have a life goal of obtaining each and every one of the ICs in the CD4000 series (only missing 9 !! ).
The ordering / accumulating of these ICs has left me with 'extras' of many of these ICs, and I thought it might be a cool thing to pass along these efforts to other enthusiastic builders. I'm curious to see if anything fun comes out of it!
So there are two CMOS collections : CMOS Boss and CMOS Safari
CMOS Boss sports a crazy 72 different ICs - 78pcs total (there are multiples of a few of the most common/useful)
CMOS Safari has 52 different ICs, still crazy but not as crazy.
Here is the CMOS Boss...
To be fully transparent : indeed, many of these components were ordered via AliExpress etc. Therefore, especially where it concerns the op-amps, there are likely clones or ICs of questionable authenticity. I can say that in my own experience, I've yet to encounter an IC that did not perform as expected - and when I've compared the AliExpress parts with those obtained from Mouser, I've noticed very little difference. No component has performed outside of specifications, at least. Instances where there are multiples of the same component/model - I've included at least one from a reputable source (Mouser) - the rest come from a variety of sellers.
With the CMOS components, there's far less risk of clones or inauthentic components. However, there are some parts that are clearly what we would call NOS (New Old Stock). These are not newly manufactured parts. Again, I have not encountered any ICs that did not function as expected. I haven't tested each individual component, but I have tested at least one IC from pretty well every batch/seller/source.
In the CMOS Boss package, there are numerous ICs that I acquired from Mouser, and are therefore presumed to be fully authentic (ie 4031). The packaging indicates which of these are from Mouser.
Right... the packaging.
Op-Amp Campout : individual components placed in labeled ESD bags. When there are similar models/same family of components, I've placed these components on ESD foam before placing them in their ESD bags.
CMOS Boss / Safari : packaged in a DIY/homemade 'pill-box' style container
- Can't attach any further images, I'm afraid. If the preview doesn't work, it still appears to load if you click to view full size.
PRICING :
I'm selling the Op-Amp Campout collection for $35 (incl Shipping to North America)
CMOS Boss = $50 (quite a few $1-3 ICs in there) - price includes NA shipping as well.
CMOS Safari = $35 (again with NA shipping included)
I've done my best to price these BELOW any other comparable collections that one can find via Amazon / eBay or other source. Some markup for my time though I think I calculated it to be about $0.40/hr
Anyhow - like I said, my main intention here is to put these components in the hands of others - things I wish I could have purchased when I was starting out.
If you are interested or have any questions, please feel free to get in touch here or email me.
