Subject description: I ask suggestion about a low frequency oscillator design based on NE566

Hi All,
I looking for a simple LFO schematic for my DIY modular synth project.
I have found a working NE566 and it seems like a good candidate.

https://img.ozdisan.com/ETicaret_Dosya/485105_9303808.PDF

The power supply of my modular is dual rail -15 0 15 volt
So I have found this:

https://www.schmitzbits.de/vco566.html

This design is very promising. The exponential converter is not necessary so I think that the PNP and NPN can be omitted in my design.

I just want to generate the square and triangle waveform with a variable frequency range. (e.g. very slow/normal/audio range).
Have you any suggestion about the necessary modifications?
Thanks,
B.R.
Giorgio.

There's probably some discussion around here in the Thomas Henry subforum about this as well.

Everything is described in the datasheet on page 4. You can use Figure1 on page 5. The formula for the output frequency is given. I would try a 10K potentiometer for R1 and start with 1µF for C1. The datasheet also has a diagrams for the output frequency as function of C1(with R1 at 4kOhm) and as function of R1(unfortunately without a given value for C1).

Here is more explanation of the circuit which I find very helpful https://sound-au.com/project162.htm

Post was edited because I wasn't reading carefully, question about why the TO wants to use the NE566 removed.
