I did a bit of maintenance on my balcony and spotted some flowerbuds on the pulmonaria (Lungwort).

I removed what was left of the sunflower which apparently did produce quite a lot of seeds.
I might try to grow another one from those seeds.

The Viola had a bunch of runners which were making their way outside of the planter.
I spread them around, slightly buried them and then pinned them to the ground.

I also spotted the Convallaria majalis (lily of the valley) and one of the hostas peeking through the surface

some pepper photos from the past 3 days to show their progress.

The Bhut jolokia Strain II and Dwarf Chiltepin seeds also germinated, so this year I might actually end up with all of the 8 different varieties I am trying to grow.
(9 if the Carolina Reaper survives the winter)

I have been transplanting some peppers, pretty much in order of growth rate.
The Bhut jolokia Strain II is also ready for transplanting but it'll have to wait another day or so.
When I transplant them they first go back in the incubator for 2 more days before I move them under another light.
It's very humid in the incubator and this gives them some extra time to re-establish their roots in the new soil without drying out to quickly.
However, space in there is limited and when I transplant them to separate pots they do of course take up more space.

Right now I am keeping 6 of each max. which means that I sadly had to say goodbye to a couple of seedlings.
7pot lucy is the only one of which I have less (3).

My current plan is to end up with 2 of each variety, all in separate pots (12 in total), except for the smaller Madre de Rios and Dwarf Chiltepin
of which I want to place 3 per (larger) pot. Those plans might change though and if I can place more I probably will.
I did already get some new pots, which are square and a bit smaller in diameter than the round pots I was using
but they are also taller. Resulting in a more volume with a smaller surface area.

I have 2 new poisonous plants in the form of Helleborus niger.
I've been wanting these for a while but they are usually 2 big and/or expensive. Since it's getting to the end of their flowering season these were on sale.
One already moved in with the lungwort and bittersweet nightshade, the other one is still looking around for a good spot.

I also got a pack of bulbs. Not something special in particular and the whole pack (of 50) was cheaper than 1 quality bulb so I am not expecting much.
1x Dahlia Red Skin II which honestly doesn't look too bad especially compared to what I had last year, and that one produced some nice flowers.
12x Sparaxis tricolor very small bulbs that look a bit too dry to me, not expecting much from these.
12x Liatris spicata blue Actually pretty decent bulbs that are clearly alive and feel very firm. These would probably fit in nicely on my balcony.
25x Allium moly look even worse than the Sparaxis bulbs but with so many of them some might still produce a couple of flowers.

All of these are supposed to flower in early summer and attract bees.

I think it's actually 4. Shocked
It's not so clearly visible on the other one but there appear to be 2 plants per pot. Not sure yet if I can/will seperate them.

That's no longer a question.
I was able to seperate them and they all found a new place to live.

I gathered some foxgloves (legally), cleaned them up a bit and put them in pots.
Most of them are still small and very unlikely to flower this year so it will be a challenge to keep them alive until next year.
I got two larger ones, one of which actually had a flower stalk from last year, so those are likely to flower this year.

suuuure
of course I ordered too many seeds again, which just arrived in the mail. (all seeds were ordered here)

Cosmos bipinnatus 'Sonata White' I really liked the cosmos last year, which I saved seeds from, so I got a different (white) variety to add this year.
Dianthus carthusianorum (Karthuizer Anjer) and Dianthus superbus 'Crimsonia' more small flowers for in the summer months.
I think these will combine nicely with the cosmos. The Dianthus superbus has very peculiar flowers.
Nigella orientalis 'Transformer' also has some rather interesting flowers which look very different than the ones of the Nigella damascena which I am familiar with.
Platycodon grandiflorus more weird flowers, at least before they open.
Antirrhinum majus 'Sonnet White' White snapdragons.
Calamintha grandiflora nice woodland plant with pink flowers.
Leonotis leonurus Also know as Dagga and often grown for its "medicinal" properties. Has some very nice flowers as well.
Solanum atropurpureum* aka "purple devil plant" Basically a nightshade from hell covered in thorns.
Coleus They did well last year, were easy to maintain and the bright colored foliage broke up the usual sea of green.

as usual I will probably fail to grow most of them but we'll see.

* more info about this plant and other prickly nightshades can be found here
