In the midst of editing samples of my stringed instruments I noticed that the phase of the waveforms of individual notes varies, going up at the start for most notes but down at the start for others. Is this a known phenomena? Weird.

With the Jay Turser bass all the notes start on the upswing, but the Hagstrom Swede I'm recording now the phase is varying. The Turser is strung with flats, the Swede with half-rounds, and they are both passive instruments.

Interesting, I'll check this later today, I have to re-record anyway as I hear some noise going on which is another puzzler.

Yes and yes! In other words it is consistently inconsistent. Smile I aint gonna sweat it, we'll see what the other basses do.

The noise is crosstalk within the inputs of the RME UFX, an external tube (valve) pre (which was power off) plugged into a UFX input is the source.
