New Years Eve Concert 2023/2024

Here is the recording of my set from December 31, 2023 with some notes about it.

My most recent works have been drone-based without much rhythmic content. This was due, in part, to a dropout issue on my MIDI router. Last month, I discovered that its power supply was the culprit which was easily remedied.

Thus, my idea was to return to music that is more rhythmic (that is, "clocked").

Also, I downloaded Wren a few months ago. It is a software modular synthesizer and wanted to see if I could utilize it along with the hardware modular and my Kurzweil K2600. This forced me to learn about Wren, though I can honestly say that I've just scratched the surface of this amazing software!

Though the performance is continuous it kind of it worked out to two halves. The first half is kind of slow and austere. The second half is more involved and builds to a rich crescendo with everything involved (Wren, the modular, LP1, and K2600).

I tend to view these streaming events as a creative challenge. Improvised works such as this are a kind of musical exploration to me.

As always, I appreciate the time of effort of the stream operators and organizers (Jan and Phobos). To keep the server running and to organize these events on a regular basis is no small task. Thank you for everything!

Hello to all. After I uploaded the file I discovered that I wasn't too happy with the balance on the last 10 minutes of the track. I applied some EQ as needed and uploaded an updated copy.
