I have 120 converted DX7 patches in a patch bank on my G2, and each has 8 variations, so there are 960 total. So how can I find the sound I want in 960 patches? Maybe I'd like list alphabetized by name, pointing me to the patch number (or at least the file name) and variation number. I wonder if I can make g2ools do that for me.

Sorting a list of strings in python is easy, especially if all of the patches that you're working with are all in a list already.

The last time I tried working with G2ools, it was problematic.
Python 2 is end of life already, and I'm too lazy to try to convert it to Python 3.

Having a working Python 2 version would be the requirement though.

I have the OG project folder for the pch2 viewer utility.

The pch2 files converted from dx2g2 have the original patch names duplicated in name bar modules. You can filter them from the areas[1].modules array using .type==126 && .colour==14, then map the .uname to get an array of 8 patch names.

If you are not into javascript, I could maybe help with a utility to take a zip archive and dump a table of pch2 names along with the variation names. Would have to wait till work gets less busy. Crying or Very sad

pchv.zip
 Description:
old project folder for pch2/prf2 web viewer. main.html is entry point, will run from local folder.
