I was just reminded of one of the most beautifull tricks I ever heard off and thought I'd share.

If (when?) you get some soda over your gear and wonder how to clean it, look for a ant hill, place the gear close and wait. The ants will clean it for you; hundreds of workers, all specialised in moving sugar around and working with small delicate surfaces, free of charge!

I would have to look up the conversation or perhaps it got lost in the enormeaus mess that is the G.D. board, but there was this guy there. He had soda in his synth, it was a sunny day so he put it outside. Etc. Basically it was a realtime report.

If it was bull he must have prepared it ahead of time. It makes sense to me though, didn't you ever see a line of ants to a half open jar of syrup?

Anyway, I'll test it next time I see a ant-hill.

That would make no sense. Linux is such a robust OS that it wouldn't be affected by such minor incidents as bottles of soda.

No, I thought I'd take a G2. You see, in the event that it doesn't realy work there would a chance of all the sugar makeing it fat.

*ducks*

I believed the Stage to be Clavia´s "John Holmes" memorial edition, but I guess I was mistaken.
Anyway... ants you say..?

Be careful, don't try this ant trick at home. I was talking to a very veteran electro-musician who used to live in the tropics during the 70s. We had this conversation just a few days ago actually. He said equipment didn't last very long because the bugs would get into it and eat the components - particularly the coatings on electrolytic capaciters - apparently they love that stuff. He said when he was playing the Moog Modular on stage, the roaches would crawl in and out of the jacks. It insides of synthesizers make great breeding ground for insects - they are veritable nurseries.

I think it is best to keep the soda away from the gear and leave the ants to other chores.
