Funny Forum Bug

I get a funny bug from the forum here. Needed some time to figure out what happens.

When im not logged in and i access some posts (not all) i just get ASCII garbage. Same page on firefox works.

When im logged in it works. Strange eh.

Mac 10.4.3, Safari

Thanks for posting this. There is a known problem with cookies. Interesting that you indicated that this happens when you aren't logged in, and not when you are. That is consistent with what we know about this bug.

With the software we are running, it is best to log in. Then the information on when you read each topic is kept in the database. We don't keep this kind of information for guests in the database, so the cookie method is used. Unfortunately, the cookies can get too big.

I installed a fix a few days ago to limit the cookies to store only the last 150 topics read, but apparently this is still too much data. I'll cut it down to a smaller number. Unfortunately, this error may be different on different browsers, depending on how they are set up.

I'm moving this to the forum called electro-music.com where we usually post bugs, complaints and suggestions.

The cookies are the problem, youre right:

1. Setting Safari to "never accept cookies"

same problem

2. Deleting all cookies in safari

works

3. Setting Safari to "accept cookies"

still works
