"Live" Recording with Reason and Ableton Live Setup |
 |
|
I've been doing a lot of software stuff recently, and I received a MIDI controller for christmas so I've been using the softsynths in Reason a lot. Normally I route Reason in to Ableton to mix with some other stuff. I do some of my work "live" now that I have a controller, and I don't like to sequence everything out.
So the question is: Is there a way in Ableton to record something that is altered and fed to it live? As opposed to just rendering a sequence.
If not, is there a program that you guys would recommend for this? |

i very recently got into ableton live and i think you can route any audio to one or more certain tracks, aim it and record everything there.
and there is also some freeware that will record the soundcard output on hdd.
this "windows media encoder" thing will do the trick as well.
there are anyway some live cracks out here.they will know better. _________________ ...it lives again. |

Yeah,
you can record incoming audio in Live. Just remember that to record the effects you add in Live, you'll have to
a) send the output of the track to another track
or
b) set the input of another track to the incoming track
and record on this new track. Else you will just get the dry input signal.

I think that you should create a setup in live(ableton) with the specifications that you need for the audio stuff (with reason rewired) and then assign to the midi controller the functions you need so that you can change what you want in live performance.
You can control almost anything in Live5 with midi.
Here's a link to Ableton's site were you can find an artist that uses Live live, there's a video were he shows how he records in real time:
http://www.ableton.com/forums.html?main=artists&sub=kid-beyond
You also can try the demo were you can use all that.
Hope this helps
