Are you planning to get your hands on one of the new Intel-based Macs?

Chances are you will ask yourself the inevitable question: Will I be able to run Reason as usual, or do I have to wait for Propellerhead to come out with another version?

Rosetta, built into Mac OS X, is the technology that will dynamically translate your Power PC applications (such as current versions of Reason and ReCycle) to work with the Intel-based Mac.

While Rosetta will be able to run our software right out of the box, performance might be an issue (as for most time-critical Power PC apps).

Early testing using the Apple Developer Transition Kit shows that:

Reason will continue to run in Rosetta, but the performance loss is similar to running Reason on a G3.
ReCycle runs fine in Rosetta, with no measurable performance issues.
ReWire works, as long as all applications in the session are PowerPC-based.
However, performance might be better on the shipping Intel-Macs but we haven't been able to test this yet.

No Universal Binary versions of our software are announced as of now. However, rest assured, Propellerhead Software is still fully committed to the Mac OS platform.
