No Sound from Virtual Keyboard |
 |
|
Hi,
When I start my G2 demo up a box appears with in/out settings, once I check core audio everything works fine.
However when I start my Full version this box does not appear & I get no sound from the virtual keyboard.
I cannot find this I/O box anywhere in the menus & the top part of my toolbar looks dead.
Can anybody help? |

I assume you are on OSX.
Have you tried rebooting the machine and trying the G2 editor without having started the Demo? Maybe the Demo has messed up something. Have you installed the G2 USB driver? I'm on XP and have never had any problems running the Demo and the G2 Editor. _________________ --Howard

I'm using a G4 powerbook, I've removed the demo & rebooted and its still the same.
Now this is my 1st time trying to use the full version as a standalone, i'm thinking that maybe it's disabled & has to be activated otherwise everybody would download the full update & simply use it as a standalone rather than the low spec demo. But i can't find any kind of activation link on the clavia site, this is really confusing me. |

OK, I understand better now. You don't have a G2.
The editor without a G2 is not very useful. You can make patches but there will be no sounds. The virtual keyboard on the editor doesn't work without the G2 hooked up.
Still, the editor will run. I understand while the editor looks dead for you on the OSX. You have to open a new patch to get a patching surface on the screen. I think this is under the file menu. Once you do that you can put down modules and connect cords. Without a G2 there's not much point to it. _________________ --Howard

Aha! I didn´t answer your first posts because I wasn´t sure I understood the problem.
The G-2 software demo is a demo of the hardware synth and not it is not a standalone virtual synth. In order to update the software demo to the standalone full version you will actually have to buy the G2 hardware synth.
The editor must not be confused with the demo which must not be confused with the G2 hardware synth _________________ A Charity Pantomime in aid of Paranoid Schizophrenics descended into chaos yesterday when someone shouted, "He's behind you!"

Ok, thanks for your replys
i do own the G2 hardware, and there is no problem hooking it up, loading the patches, and previewing the sounds thru the audio outs or headphones on my G2 keyboard.
What I would like to do is work on and preview patches without the hardware, and preview the sounds thru my computer using the core audio, just like i can with the demo, by using the virtual keyboard.
On my demo toolbar I have SETUP-OPTIONS -AUDIO in the menu, but on my full version I only have SETUP-OPTIONS, this is why I can't configure it for my core audio.
Is this possible, or do you always need the G2 keyboard hooked up to hear the sound.
Thanks again, hope I've explained myself more clearly |

The Demo is the only program that can talk to the core audio on the computer. The G2 only makes audio via it's audio output jacks. That is way the G2 editor doesn't even have menu items that deal with audio. You'll have to hook up the G2... _________________ --Howard
