I have a spare TDA2004 and a 12", 4 Ohm speaker that I want to use with my synths. I've searched for a good schematic with TDA2004 but I haven't found much.

Does anyone know know any good schematic for such an amplifier? Confused

http://www.es.lth.se/ugradcourses/elektronik/pdf/2004.pdf

Page 3 of the datasheet has an 'test and application' circuit. This features capacitors to do fancy things (well, the input capacitor is very important), i think theres a zobel network in there too. You could just hook it up like a normal op-amp with gain resistors, with the addiction of that capacitor on the input to remove DC offset.

but thats a test circuit... Confused

I just found this schematic. But I don't fully understand the circuit. Where's the ground? Confused

But that is right there in the schematics?! Shocked

Oh, right now I see hehe Embarassed

I'm thinking of building the one to the left since it is for a 4 Ohm speaker, but I don't understand that both the connections on the speaker is connected to the outputs of the two amplifiers... I'm used to the way the right schematic luses the speakers, one connection to the output and one to ground... but I just have to breadboard and see what happens Very Happy

The left one is a bridged circuit, you'll get more power from the same supply voltage that way (four tines as much) - but the power supply needs to be able to deliver twice the current.

When one amp drives positive the other drives negative, that's the trick.

Doesn't matter. Test circuit works perfectly fine as a end user circuit. Simply because the manufacturer tends to put lots of little details in test circuits, that hobbiests tend to leave out, so in some cases, the test circuit sounds better.

Yes, just as I thought it would, but I wasn't sure since I can't figure out if the output of pin 10 is connected to pin 4 via the 470 Ohm resistor... is it? There is no dot in the crossing of the lines... Rolling Eyes

oops, you are right, better put on my glasses next time, this is a bit of a weird thing, it has no feedback at all Question

I looked around a bit, there is a bridged application for the TDA2005 at http://www.alldatasheet.co.kr/datasheet-pdf/pdf_kor/25038/STMICROELECTRONICS/TDA2005M.html and this suggests the dot we don't see should be there Question

So connecting the lines where we think there should be a dot will make it have feedback? Confused

Remember, these audio ICs are not OP Amps. They are special power amps. Don't expect them to be used like OP Amps.
