Hiya,

I use a P5 glove, joysticks and gamepads as MIDI controllers in conjunction with HID to MIDI mapping software and Ableton Live software. Anyone else doing this?

sure. Btw, I'm using Windows XP Home SP2 and Ableton Live.

The HID to MIDI conversion software I use is called "Rejoice". http://fireballtrailers.com/rejoice

I use this in conjunction with the loopbe midi yoke from http://nerds.de which is a very inexpensive license. (MIDI yoke as mentioned on the Rejoice site will work also, it's free, but more complex to set up).

There is similar software for Mac called junxion (i am less familiar with this, I'd suggest googling that) but I do not know if it will support P5.

Plogue Bidule http://plogue.com will also support HID to MIDI for joysticks as well as USB keypads. Plogue's P5 support is more limited than Rejoice, however.

I have a P5 glove too, and messed around using it with Max/MSP.

I ran into an artist who uses P5s a lot more often than I do and he says he buys spare P5s wherever he can find them because each P5 he has had breaks down after a few months of use.

Yes, that's probably a good idea-- I've been worried a little about the durability.

GovernorSilver, btw, a group of Ableton Live users (including myself) will be playing laptop in DC at the Black Cat 5/7, $5 cover.
