Given the level of knowledge regarding various aspects of music synthesis on this group, I was wondering what the group thought of the Korg Radias?

I had seriously considered one of these to replace my Wavestation (not to emulate it, just to fill the hole in my stack), but after an hour of fooling with it, it just didn't reach out and grab me.

I ended up buying a used Nord G2X, without hearing or playing one (oh oh, and I'm still waiting for it to arrive), based on the discussions on this group, but the reviews of the Radias and its capabilities make me wonder if I missed something.

Yes, and it is quite cool. I like it.

I picked up a Radias R a few weeks ago, and at this still early stage I find I do like it quite a bit, fairly easy to edit and get sounds I like on it. not certain how it would do for a Wavestation emulator, though it is quite capable of harsh, metallic, glitched-out, bell/FM-like tones. At present I've been trying to make some patches which go against those characteristics, with a limited amount of success. to my ears the sound quality of the Radias tends toward being cold, bright and digital and, probably due in part to the "newness" of the synth, I've been playing to those strengths. given time, and a better familiarity with the machine I'm certain I'll find it able to produce a wide array of useable sounds.
